[Unpad Media Channel]Universitas Padjadjaran accepts one of international students from Tanzania, East Africa, named Happyness Elias Lugiko. Interestingly, Happy, her nickname, chooses to study at Unpad without any scholarships, but using self-funding.

Recently, Happy has been a part of Magister’s students in Integrated Microfinance Management (IMM) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Unpad, for the Even Semester of the academic year 2023/2024.

When being interviewed by Unpad Media Channel, initially, Happy wanted to continue her magister’s study in the microfinance field. After that, she searched for universities around the world which offer that study program (microfinance). The name of “Unpad” then appeared at the top of the search results for universities providing microfinance programs.

“Unpad was one of the universities which popped up on my search results,” she said.

From that search results, Happy dug deeper about IMM FEB Unpad. She is interested in Unpad because the university has a program which integrated technology into microfinance.

In the search engine, Happy found that Unpad has a highly qualified and experienced faculty, with many professors who are experts in their respective fields.

“From the beginning, I believed their expertise and mentorship can greatly enhance my learning experience.” added the former member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

According to her, Unpad is one of the leading universities in Indonesia which is known for its high academic excellence and standards. Unpad also already requires national and international accreditation.

“I discovered that it (Unpad) holds accreditation from national and international accrediting bodies ensuring quality education,” mentioned Happy.

Another factor that encourages Happy to choose Unpad is that Unpad’s graduates are well-regarded internationally. Moreover, the tuition fee is also a consideration factor for Happy. She finds that Unpad has a reasonable fee.

“It (Unpad) has affordable tuition fee, but yet it offers a high quality education,” she said.

Happy also states her gratitude toward Dr. Asep Mulyana, SE., MCE., as a Head Director at the Graduate School Integrated Microfinance Management Faculty of Economics and Business, who always gives information about IMM to Happy before she enrolled to Unpad.

After studying at Unpad for several months, Happy feels that Unpad is the right choice for her.

“It (Unpad) is a good university. I was right to choose it (Unpad),” said Happy.

Happy also believes that the Postgraduate program of IMM at Unpad that she is currently undergoing will lead her to her career objectives.

“After graduating (from Unpad), I’m going to contribute to positive social impact initiatives within my beloved country, Tanzania and beyond,” she hopes. (art/SA)*
