[Unpad Media Channel] The commitment of Universitas Padjadjaran to establishing an excellent and high-quality vocational school is presented through the signing of the plaque of Universitas Padjadjaran’s Vocational School at Jatinangor Campus of Unpad on Friday, August 9th, 2024.
“Let us commit that the Vocational School of Unpad can be the best vocational school in Indonesia,” said the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Rina Indiastuti, S.E. M.SIE, when signing the plaque for the establishment of Vocational School of Unpad.
The Rector explained that the establishment of the Vocational School of Unpad is the implementation from the expectation of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the stakeholders, the labour industry, the executive boards, and the vocational school students themselves. For the vocational school students, the establishment of the Vocational School of Unpad answers their confusion about their position in the educational hierarchy.
“The valid indicator (as a vocational student), first lies in the curriculum, where the portion of practical work is greater. The second is a place that holds value for innovation or creative ideas from all individuals who are passionate about vocational education, to bring forth excellence,” explained the Rector.
The Rector said that excellent characteristics that should be possessed by the Vocational School of Unpad are not only related to the curriculum and portion of the practical work but also the assurance of graduation so that students can quickly be accepted in the business and industrial world. In addition, the combination of education that includes the application of science and technology is equally important.
“Applied not only in education but also in products that can be created for the wider community. In academic (undergraduate program), the output is academic papers, while in vocational program, the output is works based on tangible products, depending on the field of applied science,” said the Rector.
The Dean of the Vocational School of Unpad Dr. Kurniawan Saefullah, S.E., M.Ec., said that as the host, all faculty administrations of Vocational School of Unpad are ready to welcome the arrival of the stakeholders and students at the Vocational School of Unpad. Therefore, Kurniawan hopes that all parties will support the development of the Vocational School of Unpad.
“It serves as a symbol that this new home is our shared home, which let us develop it together,” said Kurniawan.
