[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran strengthened its collaboration in the field of academics with Kochi University, Japan, which is represented by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at an online event on Friday, August 23rd, 2024. The conducted collaboration is one of Unpad’s commitments to promote academic excellence and international engagement.
“Our collaboration will create opportunities for our lecturers and students to work together on cooperative projects, exchange programs, and research projects,” said the Rector of Unpad, Rina Indiastuti S.E., M.SIE., in her speech.
The Rector mentioned that this MOU is more than just a contract, but also symbolizes the common goal of establishing chances for intercultural communication, teamwork in research, and academic enrichment.
“Together we may, over time, share obstacles and open new views in our professions by utilizing our abilities as a group.” Said the Rector.
The President of Kochi University, Dr. Hiroyuki Ukeda, said that the academic integrity and superior research outputs of Unpad are very commensurate with the goals of Kochi University. Through the conducted collaboration, Ukeda hopes that the students, both from Kochi University and Unpad, will gain better educational experiences also fostering the creation of novel responses to global problems.
“I have no doubt that our partnership will produce significant and lasting results for both of our organizations,” said Ukeda.
In this collaboration, Kochi University is committed to creating a platform focused on professional development, cultural awareness, and academic advancement. This partnership aims to shape the future direction of the involved institutions and have a significant impact on both communities.
“Let us move forward with enthusiasm and dedication, knowing that the work we do together will shape the future of our institutions and benefit our community in a profound way,” said Ukeda.
The Dean of the Faculty of Geological Engineering (Fakultas Teknik Geologi or FTG) at Unpad, Prof. Ir. Mega Fatimah Rosana, M.Sc., Ph.D., said that the collaboration between FTG Unpad and Kochi University is one effort to provide students with the opportunity to visit partner universities, typically for a few months or up to one semester.
“So, Kochi University will be one of our student destinations,” explained Prof. Mega.
Not only does FTG Unpad send its students abroad, but it is also determined to welcome students from Kochi University in various fields to Unpad. This includes short visits, student exchanges, and even summer programs.
“So hopefully in the future, we can discuss in more detail for our program,” hoped Prof. Mega.
