[Unpad Media Channel] The Community Service Program (Program Pengabdian Masyarakat or PPM) Team of Universitas Padjadjaran’s PSDKU holds a socialization session on waste management and financial literacy for coconut sugar farmers in Sukajaya Village, Pangandaran Regency.

The socialization titled “Strategies to Enhance Community Welfare Through Waste Utilization and Improved Financial Literacy” is held at the Village Sukajaya Hall, Pangandaran Regency, on Sunday (7/7/2024).

The PPM Team of Unpad’s PSDKU consists of Luthfi Thirafi, S.E., M.E. (professor of Business Administration at Unpad’s PSDKU), Nora Akbarsyah, S.Pi., M.Si., (professor of Tropical Marine Fisheries at Unpad’s PSDKU), and Farisadri Fauzan, S.T.P., MBA., QWP (professor of Business Administration at Unpad’s PSDKU).

Sukajaya Village itself has various potentials, one of them is coconut sugar. The Leader of the PPM Team of Unpad’s PSDKU in Sukajaya Village Luthfi Thirafi, S.E., M.E., explained that the potential of coconut sugar in Sukajaya Village is very high and could support the local economy. Additionally, the waste produced can drive the development of economic potential. Therefore, good income management is crucial for achieving the expected economic potential.

“The community also needs to have good financial management skills so that income allocation can be done according to needs,” explained Luthfi.

The Head of Sukajaya Village Ruspendi said that until now, there has been a lot of waste that has not been managed and is simply discarded in Sukajaya Village. Hence, waste management is important to the community of Sukajaya Village so that the waste can be managed properly.

This event is attended by around 30 participants who work as coconut sugar farmers. The presentation on waste management is given by Nurul Mardhiah Sitio, S.AB., M.M., while the material on financial literacy is presented by Farisadri Fauzan, S.T.P., MBA., QWP.

Through this program, Luthfi hopes that the awareness among coconut sugar farmers and the community of Sukajaya Village about the importance of waste management has increased. Moreover, the financial literacy of the community is also hoped to become better so that the income can be allocated appropriately and protected from investment fraud.

The team also hopes that this activity can continue and collaborate with many parties, thereby having a greater positive impact in the future. (arm/SA)*
