[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran received a visit from representatives of the United States of America congressional staff to discuss the prospects for collaboration between the US and Unpad. The US delegation were welcomed by Unpad’s Vice Rector for Planning and Organization, Prof. Drs. Yanyan Mochamad Yani, MAIR, Ph.D., at the Executive Lounge in Unpad’s Iwa Koesoemasoemantri campus, Bandung, on Thursday, August 8.
The meeting went over the potential of collaboration between the United States of America and Indonesian higher education institutions, more specifically Unpad. The potential collaborations discussed were varied in their sectors, from natural resources to academic programs, such as student and faculty exchange.
Benjamin Burnett, a National Security Advisor who led the US congressional staff delegation in the meeting, expressed his admiration toward Indonesian universities, which he remarked as being leading in many fields.
“In terms of international collaboration on education, there is limitless potential there. Indonesian universities are leading the way in a lot of emerging technologies, emerging natural resources spaces. So I think US universities should be interested in more collaboration, and finding ways to lower barriers to that is very important,” explained Burnett.
The meeting was also attended by several heads of faculty from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) who presented their proposal for collaboration in semiconductors and essential minerals. (ICP)*
