[Unpad Media Channel] The Indonesian Red Cross Volunteer Corps (KSR PMI) Unit of Universitas Padjadjaran engaged in a collaboration to share experiences with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (BSMM) Branch at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). This event took place over three days at Unpad’s Dipati Ukur Campus and in Jatiroke Village, Jatinangor, from September 6th to 8th, 2024.

The collaboration was officially welcomed by the KSR PMI Unit’s supervisor, Ida Maryati, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., Ph.D., who expressed appreciation for BSMM Branch UKM’s trust in choosing Unpad as their collaborative partner. Dr. Masdalina Azhari, Chair of BSMM Branch UKM, noted that KSR PMI was selected due to its extensive experience and the existing partnership between UKM and Unpad. This collaboration represents a new program for BSMM Branch UKM, which aims to expand its outreach to various countries.

Ismi Raihani, the project leader from KSR Collaboration, emphasized that this initiative provides a valuable opportunity to learn from one another, share experiences, exchange cultures, and strengthen humanitarian synergies with a direct contribution to the community. The hope is that this collaboration will pave the way for larger partnerships in the future.

The study visit included presentations of work programs from both KSR PMI Unit Unpad and BSMM Branch UKM, as well as focus group discussions (FGDs) and cultural performances from each country. Following this, a community service program was conducted in Jatiroke Village, Sumedang, themed “Basic Life Support Socialization,” attended by over 50 local residents.

Participants also learned about basic life support techniques and received goodie bags containing staple food items, along with free health screenings that included height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol checks, and doctor consultations. Through this collaborative program, KSR PMI Unit Unpad and BSMM Branch UKM hope to create a positive impact not only for their organizations but also for the broader community.
