[Unpad Media Channel] Two students from the Faculty of Dentistry (abbreviated as FKG) at Universitas Padjadjaran successfully earned accolades at the International Dental Student Summer Camp (IDSSC), which took place in Padang and Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, from September 4th to 8th, 2024. IDSSC is a summer camp aimed at strengthening cooperation and exchanging experiences, knowledge, and technology among dental students from various countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia.
Lathifah Amri (International Undergraduate Program, FKG) won first place in the Q&A Competition at the international event. Additionally, Lathifah, along with Julia Thrisna Silvyani (Dental Profession Program), secured second place in the Poster Competition with their poster titled “Defend Your Mouth, Defend Your Life,” under the guidance of Dewi Zakiawati, drg., M.Sc., Sp.PM.
The poster explains the relationship between oral health and overall health, highlighting four oral diseases linked to global mortality: oral cancer, periodontitis, oral tuberculosis, and oropharyngeal candidiasis. The purpose of the poster is to raise public awareness about the dangers of certain oral symptoms and manifestations.
In addition to the competitions, the event also featured community service in dental health through community service initiatives. The community services was conducted at several elementary schools, including SDN 04 Baringin, SDN 05 Baringin, SDN 07 Baringin, SDN 09 Baringin, SDN 10 Baringin, and SDN 16 Baringin.
