[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran has further strengthened its academic ranks by appointing eight new professors from the Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, and Faculty of Dentistry. These appointments are made official through the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia on the Promotion of Academic/Functional Positions for Lecturers, presented by the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita, at the Executive Lounge, Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, on Monday, 4 November 2024.
“We believe the new professors entrusted today will prove their dedication to this role even more significantly than before. The addition of these professors signifies a profound responsibility given by society” said the Rector in his speech.
The eight professors are as follows:
- Prof. Yanny Trisyani Wahyuningsih, S.Kp., M.N., Ph.D. — Faculty of Nursing (Emergency Nursing Science)
- Prof. Dr. Drs. Bambang Hermanto, M.Si. — Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Business and Tourism Administration)
- Prof. Dr. Dra. Titin Herawati, M.Si. — Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (Coastal Pollution and Ecotoxicology)
- Prof. Dra. Laili Rahayuwati, M.Kes., M.Sc., Dr.PH. — Faculty of Nursing (Health Behavior and Health Promotion in Community Nursing)
- Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Iman Hernaman, M.Si. — Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Ruminant Nutrition and Feed Technology)
- Prof. Dr. drg. Dudi Aripin, Sp.KG(K). — Faculty of Dentistry (Cariology and Basic Dental Conservation)
- Prof. Mutakin, M.Si., Apt., Ph.D. — Faculty of Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis)
- Prof. Dr. drg. Agus Susanto, M.Kes., Sp.Perio.(K). — Faculty of Dentistry (Periodontal Reconstruction and Regeneration)
The Rector expressed his hope that these appointments would inspire other academic staff to pursue professorial positions, noting the substantial responsibility of advancing their respective fields for the broader enrichment of national knowledge.
“A professorship is not about what we have done thus far but what we will achieve in the future in this role,” he stated.
Prof. Dr. Arlette Suzy Puspa Pertiwi, drg., Sp.KGA, M.Si., Secretary of the Unpad’s Board of Professors, emphasized the essential leadership role of a professor within academic leadership. She explained that professors not only serve as educators but also as leaders who set the culture, standards, and direction for development within the institution and the wider community.
“Let’s work together to realize a globally respected Unpad,” urged Prof. Arlette.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Ganjar Kurnia, DEA., Chair of the Unpad’s Academic Senate, added that the increasing number of professors reflects Unpad’s commitment to societal benefit. According to him, with more professors, Unpad is closer to its vision of producing impactful research relevant to community needs.
