[Unpad Media Channel] Xiangsihu College of Guangxi Minzu University, China, visited Universitas Padjadjaran to explore potential future collaborations and observe the progress of their students studying Indonesian language and culture at Unpad.

The visit led by the President of Xiangsihu College, Prof. Nong Kezhong, is welcomed by the Rector of Unpad, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita, at the Unpad Rectorate Building, Jl. Dipati Ukur 35 Bandung. The Rector is accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Prof. Aquarini Priyatna, and other faculty administrations.

“Through this discussion, it is evident that there are many possibilities for collaboration with Xiangsihu College. Here at Unpad, we are preparing a more environmentally friendly and sustainable campus environment. This could potentially become one area of collaboration,” said the Rector of Unpad.

Meanwhile, Prof. Nong Kezhong invites the Rector and Unpad administrations to visit their campus to view the available facilities and encouraged both students and lecturers to participate in exchanges with Xiangsihu College.

“We invite you to see our new campus with many modern facilities. Scholarship opportunities funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship are also available for students and lecturers who wish to study at Xiangsihu College,” said Prof. Nong Kezhong.

Prof. Nong Kezhong had previously visited Unpad in December 2016 during the initial exploration of a partnership. In April 2017, the Rector of Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, paid a return visit to Xiangsihu College and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU was renewed by Unpad’s 12th Rector, Prof. Rina Indiastuti, in November 2022.

As part of the collaboration, student exchange programs are conducted, enabling Unpad students to study Chinese language and culture for one year at Xiangsihu College, while students from Xiangsihu College study Indonesian language and culture at Unpad.

During the recent visit, several Xiangsihu College students currently studying at Unpad showcased their talents by performing Indonesian songs and presenting the Peacock Dance (Tari Merak), a traditional dance from West Java. (SA)*
