[Unpad Media Channel] The International Office at Universitas Padjadjaran has once again organized the Overseas Immersion Program (OIP), involving 31 participants from Ngee Ann Polytechnic Singapore. As part of the program, participants visit Unpad Hospital on Monday, February 24th, 2025. Through this program, participants gain insights into Indonesian culture and subjects related to their educational backgrounds.
“OIP provides participants with a one-week overseas exposure in Indonesia, preparing them for global readiness by fostering cross-cultural understanding and offering practical experience,” said Anggia Utami Dewi, S.IP., M.IS., Ph.D., the Head of International Office at Unpad.
OIP is a real collaboration initiative between Unpad and its international partners. Ngee Ann Polytechnic Singapore is one of the pioneering partners in this initiative, with Unpad tailoring the program to meet partner needs. The program is designed to be relevant and beneficial for both institutions, ensuring that participants gain meaningful experiences aligned with their objectives.
“This program also benefits Unpad in achieving its goal of becoming a globally recognized university and ranking among the world’s top 300 institutions. Therefore, it is essential for Unpad to enhance its global exposure, not only to the general public but also to universities worldwide,” Anggia explained.
The OIP has been running for two years. In this batch, the participants have health sciences backgrounds. Their activities include lectures on Indonesian culture, cuisine, and traditions, as well as visits to various industries. As part of their industry visits, they toured Unpad Hospital, Unpad Dental and Oral Hospital, Bandung Eye Center, and Sanbe Farma, providing exposure to the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
Ahmad Faried, MD., SpBS(K)., Ph.D., FICS., DABRM, a neuroscientist and neurosurgery clinician from Unpad’s Faculty of Medicine, delivered a presentation on “Stem Cells and Its Metabolite in Trauma at Unpad Hospital.” In his presentation, Faried explained that stem cell therapy can be used to treat various medical conditions, including brain trauma and spinal cord injuries.
“At Unpad, we continuously conduct research to develop this therapy, including its applications in trauma treatment and metabolic diseases,” Faried stated.
He further added that Unpad aims to become one of Indonesia’s leading research and treatment centers for stem cell therapy, contributing to innovative and effective medical solutions.
Through the Overseas Immersion Program, Unpad continues to strengthen its role in global collaborations, providing cultural experiences for international students, and expanding its academic and research exposure on an international scale. It is hoped that this partnership will continue to grow and bring mutual benefits, fostering an inclusive and globally competitive educational environment.
