[Unpad Media Channel] Ramadhan Nugraha, a graduate with a hearing disability, proudly graduated from the Electrical Engineering program and participated in the Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Padjadjaran for the second wave of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, held at Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Iwa Koesoemasoemantri Campus, Bandung, on Wednesday, February 5th, 2024.

As an advocate for inclusivity and accessibility in higher education, Ramadhan expressed his strong desire to see more opportunities for people with disabilities to receive equal access to education.

“I want to show that Deaf friends can also join Unpad. Even though there may be difficulties and challenges, we can still help each other move forward and stay motivated to learn,” said Ramadhan, who often called Dhani.

In an interview with Kanal Media Unpad, assisted by Unpad’s Sign Language Interpreter staff, Dhani shared his experiences as a student in the Electrical Engineering program at Unpad’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. At the beginning, he faced challenges in communication with professors and understanding lessons in class. Despite these obstacles, Dhani remained enthusiastic about his studies.

“The challenge was mainly communication with the professors, which was quite difficult. During lessons, I struggled to understand, but I was helped by the Live Transcript app, although it wasn’t always clear. With that, I was able to understand the lessons and stayed motivated to keep learning,” said Dhani.

Dhani also highlighted how his peers and professors always supported him during difficult moments in the learning process. He hopes that Unpad will continue to open doors for people with disabilities to progress through education.

“Don’t give up. Stay enthusiastic and keep moving forward, even when facing difficulties. Whatever the challenge, we must face it for the future,” Dhani explained.
