The Director of the SDGs Center at Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Zuzy Anna, is one of the featured speakers at the Silverhorn Base Camp 2025 forum held by Silverhorn Group in Hong Kong on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025. Carrying the theme “Fostering Sustainable Growth in Emerging Asia,” the event gathers industry leaders, investors, and academics to discuss key development issues across the region.
Silverhorn Base Camp is an annual discussion forum initiated by Silverhorn Group, an investment firm focused on emerging markets. The forum aims to connect diverse stakeholders in shaping more sustainable approaches to social and economic development.
In her presentation, Prof. Zuzy emphasized the interconnectedness of public toilets, sanitation, health, and economic development, with a particular focus on stunting among children. She explained that poor sanitation practices—such as open defecation—directly contribute to high stunting rates in many developing countries, including Indonesia.
“Sanitation and public toilets are not merely health issues—they are closely tied to productivity and human development,” said Prof. Zuzy. She further stated that improving access to clean and safe public toilets can have a significant impact on community well-being and long-term economic growth.
Prof. Zuzy’s perspective is well received by forum participants, especially as it addressed a commonly overlooked issue with far-reaching implications. Several attendees notes that her approach opens new opportunities for collaboration between public and private sectors in improving basic infrastructure, particularly in sanitation.
Her participation at Silverhorn Base Camp reflects Universitas Padjadjaran’s commitment to contributing academic insight to global development challenges, especially through data-driven and policy-oriented approaches.
