Universitas Padjadjaran Explores Academic Collaboration with The Government of Mozambique

[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran welcomes a delegation from the Government of Mozambique to explore potential cooperation in the field of education. The meeting, that is being held on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at the Rector’s Office, Jl. Dipati Ukur No. 35 Bandung, marks the initial step toward strengthening bilateral relations through academic collaboration.

“It is an honor for Unpad to have the opportunity to establish a partnership with Mozambique. Unpad’s strengths lie in several fields, including medicine, agriculture, and the social sciences,” said the Rector of Unpad, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita, in his remarks welcoming the Mozambican delegation.

During the meeting, Prof. Arief expressed Unpad’s openness to various forms of collaboration with Mozambican universities, including student and staff exchanges, joint research programs, and short-term academic visits aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding. Unpad also offers the possibility of providing scholarships for international students to study at the university.

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Unpad, Prof. Zahrotur Rusyda Hinduan, added that Unpad will soon launch an International Summer Course program, which will be available online. She expressed hope that students from Mozambique could participate in this program as a first step toward international academic cooperation between the two countries.

“Unpad is a hybrid university, which allows students from Mozambique to join virtually, for example, in the form of online lectures, academic supervision, or joint research,” said Prof. Zahrotur Rusyda.

Furthermore, H.E. Belmiro Jose Malate, Ambassador of Mozambique, stated that this visit represents a significant momentum for the Mozambican government to explore academic cooperation opportunities, particularly between Unpad and various universities in Mozambique.

“We (Mozambique and Unpad) can build more collaborations and interactions. Through this, we can gradually lay the foundation for working together, particularly in the education sector,” said H.E. Malate.

Also present at the meeting are the Head of the Unpad International Office Anggia Utami Dewi, S.IP., M.IS., Ph.D., and Mozambican Advisor Jose Pedro Lucas Matenga.

This meeting is expected to be the starting point for concrete collaboration between Unpad and educational institutions in Mozambique. Through this partnership, both parties are committed to promoting the exchange of knowledge, culture, and academic experiences that will bring tangible benefits to the advancement of higher education in both countries.
