[Unpad Media Channel] The Veterinary Hospital of Universitas Padjadjaran, in collaboration with the Veterinary Medicine Study Program, held the Veterinary Service Month 2025 as part of Unpad’s 68th Anniversary celebration and the commemoration of World Rabies Day. The event took place at the Unpad Veterinary Hospital, Jatinangor, on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, providing free health checks and rabies vaccinations for 50 cats and dogs.

According to Dr. drh. Pranyata T. Waskita, M. Biotek., Director of Unpad Veterinary Hospital, the program not only focuses on animal health services but also serves as a public education effort regarding rabies in pets such as dogs and cats. He expressed hope that the event would increase community awareness and understanding of rabies prevention.

“The Veterinary Service Month does not stop with today’s vaccination. There will be seminars and other activities until October, giving the public continuous access to information and services related to rabies,” said Dr. Pranyata.

Meanwhile, Dr. Endang Yuni Setyowati, drh., M.Sc.Ag., Head of the Veterinary Medicine Study Program, explained that the vaccination program also served as a practical learning opportunity for Unpad Veterinary Medicine students. The event allowed students to build both medical and communication skills before entering professional practice.

“Students not only learn the theory of rabies in class but also practice interacting with pet owners, conducting examinations, and ensuring the animals are healthy before vaccination. The Unpad Veterinary Hospital serves as an educational platform that provides hands-on training for future veterinarians,” Dr. Endang noted.

This initiative highlights Unpad’s commitment to serving society. Beyond protecting pets from rabies, the program also ensures students gain valuable real-world experience to strengthen their professional competencies in veterinary health.*
