[Unpad Media Channel] The official visit of the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran to China from 22nd to 24th November 2025 marked a significant milestone in expanding international networking and strategic collaboration between Indonesia and China. The visit was initiated through an official invitation from Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU), where the Rector was invited as a keynote speaker at the 2025 China-Indonesia People to People Exchange Development International Conference.

Addressing academics and government representatives from both countries, the Rector delivered a keynote presentation titled “Bridging Islands through Knowledge”, highlighting the pivotal role of universities as hubs of knowledge development and as bridges for global collaboration. He encouraged stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and utilize knowledge as a foundation for shared progress, especially between Indonesia and China.

During the visit, the Rector also held a formal meeting with FPNU leadership, attended by President Prof. Wu Keshou, Vice President Prof. Jiang Xingshan, and Dean of the School of Food and Biological Engineering Prof. Jianwu Zhou. The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), laying the groundwork for future collaboration in academic programs, research, and student and staff exchange initiatives. Following the signing ceremony, the Rector toured FPNU’s campus facilities, which are expected to support the implementation of collaborative programs going forward.

The visit continued with a strategic engagement at Nanchang University, a leading institution located in Jiangxi Province. In a meeting with the University’s Vice Rector, discussions focused on key areas with strong potential for collaboration, particularly in public policy and administration, medicine, and agriculture—three major strengths shared by both universities that hold considerable impact on research development and scientific advancement.

Beyond academic partnership, the visit expanded opportunities for collaboration with the industrial sector. The Rector visited one of China’s largest tea manufacturers and a leading electric vehicle (EV) production facility, accompanied directly by officials from the Jiangxi Provincial Government. During the visit, he proposed joint research opportunities, technological innovation initiatives, and industrial internship programs for Unpad students, ensuring that higher education remains closely aligned with industry needs and advancements.

Overall, the series of engagements not only strengthened relationships between Unpad and various Chinese institutions but also reaffirmed Unpad’s commitment to playing an active role on the global stage. These efforts are expected to provide broader impact and tangible benefits not only for Unpad, but also for Indonesian society and the global community, aligned with the spirit of Unpad as an excellent, inclusive, and impactful institution.
