[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has once again earned international recognition from renowned global ranking organization QS Quacquarelli Symonds. For the first time, Unpad has successfully entered the Top 100 in Asia, securing 96th position in the QS Asia University Rankings (QS AUR) 2026, announced on Tuesday, 4th November 2025. Nationally, Unpad now ranks 6th among Indonesian universities.

“This marks the first time Unpad has broken into the Top 100 in Asia. This achievement also aligns with our improvement in the QS World University Rankings published last June. Our focus has always been on advancing knowledge and ensuring Unpad’s impact on society, and this international recognition is a bonus, a result of the hard work of our students, faculty members, academic staff, alumni, and partners. Thank you,” stated Unpad Rector, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita.

Over the past six years, Unpad’s rankings in QS AUR have continued to improve. Unpad ranked 238th in 2021, rose to 192nd in 2022, moved slightly to 191st in 2023, and then climbed to 160th in 2024. Last year, in QS AUR 2025, Unpad reached 134th position. The upward trend continues this year, achieving a historic breakthrough into the Top 100.

The 2026 QS AUR evaluated 1,526 universities across Asia, including 91 institutions from Indonesia. Assessment is based on 11 indicators, namely faculty-student ratio, employer reputation, international faculty ratio, academic reputation, international research network, inbound exchange students, outbound exchange students, staff with PhDs, international student ratio, papers per faculty, and citations per paper.

Head of the Strategic Development and University Reputation Unit (SPSRU) at Unpad, Prof. Mohamad Fahmi, emphasized that this milestone is a result of the collective consistency of the entire academic community in strengthening academic reputation, research excellence, and global collaboration.

“This year, Unpad recorded the most significant improvements in academic reputation and international research network indicators, reflecting growing recognition of Unpad’s academic quality and expanding global research partnerships. This recognition is more than just ranking figures, it is a reflection of the right transformational direction toward becoming a world-class university that delivers real benefits to society,” he said.*
