Prof. Ganjar Kurnia Receives Rancage Literary Award 2013

 

[Unpad.ac.id, 4/06/2013] Unpad Rector, Prof. Ganjar Kurnia received Rancage Literary Award 2013 on Tuesday (4/06) at the Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Bandung. The award was given directly by member of Board of Cultural Advisors Rancage, Ajip Rosidi.

According to Ajip, the award for Prof. Ganjar was given for his contribution in Sundanese language. He was considered successful in preserving Sundanese arts particularly in Unpad through Sundanese cultural and art event named Pidangan Seni Budaya Rumawat Padjadjaran held in Bale Rumawat Padjadjaran.

In addition, he also contributed in initiating the commemoration of International Mother Language Day in Unpad, which made it the first university in Indonesia commemorating the day after being officially declared by the UNESCO.

Ajip then said that this year’s Rancage Literary Award also celebrated its 25th year. The award is mainly given men of letters who wrote in Sundanese. After several years, the award is given to men of letters from Java, Bali, and Lampung as well who write in their own mother language.

Besides the Rector, other figures who received the Rancage award were Deni A. Fajar, editor of Tribun Jabar for his book of poem titled Lagu Padungdung for Sundanese category, Krishna Mihardja, for his short story “Pratisara”, and J.F.X. Hoery for Javanese category, I Made Sugianto for short roman Sentana and I Nyoman Suprapta for Balinese category. The “Samsudi Award” was given to Drs. H. Elin Sjamsuri for Dongeng Aki Guru.
