Three Researchers from Unpad Being the Top 2% World Raking Scientist

[Unpad Media Channel] Researchers from Universitas Padjadjaran were included on the list of world top scientist or Top 2% World Ranking Scientist that was released recently by Stanford University.

There were three lecturers and researchers from Unpad who were on the list, Faculty Professor of Pharmacy, Prof. Apt. Muchtaridi, PhD, also two researches from Faculty of Medicine, dr. Ian Huang, Sp.PD., and dr. Raymond Pranata. In Indonesia, three of them were 92 best researchers who were on the list.

The assessment of Top 2% World Ranking Scientist was released by Prof. John P.A. loannidis MD Ph.D., from Stanford University, Jeroen Baas from Elsevier, and Kevin Boyak from SciTech Strategies.

The listed researcher is an active person in doing research and publication, also the most quoted publication by other researchers.

Interviewed by Unpad Media Channel, Prof. Muchtaridi appreciated the achieved accomplishments. Faculty Professor of Pharmacy Analysis and Medicinal Chemist is an active scientist on developing natural resources potential as candidate compounds. Recently, Prof. Muchtaridi and his team are developing mangosteen as a research subject, particularly its alpha mangosteen active compound.

“Lately, I am exploring in cancer therapy target using radiopharmaceuticals,” he said.

From the research, in 2023, Prof. Muchtaridi had published 30 articles indexed on Google Scholar and 19 articles indexed on Scopus. 70 percent of the articles were published in reputed international journal.

Being one of the world best scientists’ list was not Prof. Muchtaridi’s goal. “My goal is being a useful academic as Unpad Motto: Bermanfaat dan Mendunia. If this achievement is beneficial and global, Thank God, it means my goal is achieved,” he added.

To produce helpful research, a research cannot do it alone. According to Prof. Muchtaridi, collaboration was an important key to compose beneficial research.

“My reputation as a researcher is nothing without contribution from partners. I have lots of publications thanks to internal collaboration from my fellows in Faculty of Pharmacy in Unpad and external collaboration,” he said.

From the collaboration, Prof. Muchtaridi formed the Collaborative Center for Theranostics Radiopharmaceuticals Research since 2021. This Collaborative Center not only assembled researchers from Unpad, but also ITB, UI, STFI, BRIN, RSHS, RS MRCCC Siloam, RS Dharmais, and PT. Kimia Farma.

He hoped this achievement would motivate other researchers, particularly from Unpad, to improve the quality of research and publication activity. The outwards of the activity was expected to increase Unpad researcher on the list. It was based on index accuracy on the list which have well reputation.

“A sign that our researches resounds globally is being on the list,” he concluded.*SA
