[Unpad.ac.id, 26/06/2013] As part of the Development of Health System Based Integrated Medicine Education, Faculty of Medicine Unpad (FK Unpad) plans to organize a series of activities in southern part of West Java on June 28-30, 2013.
This program is the continuation of the similar program named “From Rancabadak to Rancabuaya” in 2012. Initiated by FK Unpad, they have been successful to open referral pathway in the southern area (Garut-Bandung). Therefore, this program proceeds the pathway to other area which is Cianjur-Sukabumi, and this year it will be based in Cianjur in the area of Cidaun, carrying the slogan “Ka Pakidulan Mapag Maslahat, From Rancabadak – Rancabuaya – Cidaun for Society”.
Dr. Elsa Pudji Setiawati, dr., MM, as the Head of Committee said that this is the peak of the sustainable program held since April to December 2013. The program includes Health Survey and Screening, Revitalization of Health Care Facilities, Revitalization of Referral System, Development of E-Health and Educational Networking. The activity will involve 1,200 individuals ranging from Specialist Candidates, medical students including the foreign students, midwifery students, and educational staff members.
Unpad Rector, Prof. Ganjar Kurnia showed his support to the program, as a part of “Program Unpad Nyaah Ka Jabar” and contribution for society, particularly in West Java. Dean of FK Unpad, Prof. Dr. med Tri Hanggono Achmad, dr., said that this program integrates education, research, and community service by involving students to practice their skills and knowledge as soon as possible. It also aims to build a good character, teach ethics, and apply noble values to the students as part of the faculty’s commitment to result in graduates with excellent soft skills.
West Java Governor, Ahmad Heryawan, is expected to officially open the program on Saturday (29/06) in the center of the program in Cidamar village, Cidaun. The opening will then be continued with “7-Step Hand Washing Movement” led by Netty Prasetiyani Heryawan. Bumi Walagri Padjadjaran will be officially opened in the area of Cidaun Health Care Unit. The facility includes learning structures and infrastructures, promoting and preventive health care service which will be used in the improvement of health system based integrated medical education in southern West Java.
Bumi Padjadjaran Walagri will be equipped with information technology which enables students to consult, discuss, and even join many activities in Educational Center Hospital in real time mode. There will be also a video conference showing harelip surgery in Cidaun as part of the development of e-health program.
The name Bumi Walagri Padjadjaran is derived from Sundanese with health philosophy of FK Unpad’s campaign supporting preventive health care and healthy life promotion, not merely curative system.
In addition, several health care services such as mass circumcision, cataract and harelip surgeries will be held in Cidamar, while other activities including a series of surveys and screenings involving prenatal care, sight, hearing, children growth, blood tension and sugar check, and health training will be organized in six villages in Cidaun and Purbayani village in Rancabuaya. The activities will engage FK Unpad students and educational staff members from FK Unpad’s main partners, Hasan Sadikin Hospital dan National Eye Center Cicendo. This long-term joint operation is the manifestation of the spirit of from West Java to the World for Global Health.
