Unpad Targets Professionals with Launch of Unpad EdEX

Launch of the learning platform Unpad EdEX in Hutan Kota by Plataran, Gelora Bung Karno complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/1/2024). At the event, InJourney became the first client of Unpad EdEx.

[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran has launched a learning platform called Unpad EdEx designed for professionals. The platform developed by Unpad’s subsidiary, PT. Lentera Semesta Unpad, is an online learning platform from which enrollment can be converted as credit earning in Unpad’s postgraduate programs.

The launch of Unpad EdEx was held at Hutan Kota by Plataran, Gelora Bung Karno complex, Jakarta on Tuesday (24/1/2024). At the event, a collaboration was also made official between Unpad and PT. Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), otherwise known as InJourney, a BUMN (state-owned enterprise) Holding in the Indonesian aviation and tourism industry. Making InJourney the first client of Unpad EdEx.

The Unpad Director of Commercial Business Management and Investment, Prof. Diana Sari, Ph.D., explained that Unpad EdEx was founded as a respond to the always growing industry dynamics in almost every sector. This led local and multinational professionals, as well as government institutions, to require upskilling and reskilling to increase their capabilities.

“The materials available on Unpad EdEx are not only theoretical ones, but also include practical materials which could be applied directly according to the learning outcome wanted by the clients,” she said in her written statement to Unpad Media Channel.

Unpad EdEx provides both online and offline learning programs for all experience levels, from entry level positions to directors and chairpersons. As a learning platform, all training material is standardized with Unpad’s undergraduate and postgraduate certifications.

Through the standardization, Unpad EdEx users can acquire course credits to use for their Unpad degree programs. Aside from that, to provide upskilling accurate to the needs of the industry, Unpad EdEx uses a solution-focused approach as well as possessing a team of educators consisting of experienced practitioners in their field.

The taught materials on Unpad EdEx also include business topics up-to-date with industry progress in the modern era. A few among them are Supply Chain Management, Finance for Executives, Project Management, Government Science, Human Capital Management, and Sustainability and Ecotourism Management.

“Hopefully, in 2028, the program could reach out to 100 thousand professionals to increase their skill and capabilities,” said Prof. Diana.

Unpad EdEx was initiated by executives and technology specialists with more than ten years of experience. Among them is the CEO of Unpad EdEX, Mario Nicolas, who worked as the CEO of Kuncie, a Telkomsel-owned edtech startup, and CPO of Whitecoat, a telehealth company in Singapore.

Aside from him, there is the Principal Mentor and Advisor of Unpad EdEx, Priyantono Rudito, Ph.D., who was a Director at Telkomsel, and is currently active as an academic and lecturer in several distinguished universities.

“We saw that, in the post-Covid era, there is a need for companies to boost the capacity and skill of their employees. Unpad EdEx attempts to answer that need by bridging high quality education from Unpad and demands in the field. The launch of this initiative is in line with Unpad’s aim to become a world-class university as well as to develop quality human resources for Indonesia’s economic advancement,” said Mario.

At the launch, Unpad EdEx also announced a collaboration with the biggest player in the global field of edtech, Udemy. Through this collaboration, Unpad EdEx became an integrated partner with Udemy Business, which also targets the corporate market.

Unpad also became the first university to be an integrated Udemy partner in Indonesia. All learning content from Udemy will be able to be accessed by every Unpad EdEx learner.

Collaboration with InJourney

InJourney is the first client of the Unpad EdEx platform. The partnership with Unpad EdEx allows for opportunities to enhance the proficiency, and career in general, of the InJourney Group employees.

The InJourney Director of Human Resources and Digital Operations, Herdy Harman, said that the industry trends of aviation and tourism in Indonesia keep changing with the time. For that, his company needs to provide the employees of InJourney Group with skills and capabilities which evolve with modern demands.
