The Facility of Unpad Hospital is Officially Opens

[Unpad Media Channel] The Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin with the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran Prof. Rina Indiastuti and the Chair of the Board of Trustees Arief Yahya officially open the Unpad Hospital facility at Jatinangor campus, Monday (25/3/2024).

“I feel optimistic that this hospital will improve access for society regarding better quality of health services, also will reduce the burden on other hospitals in West Java. So that, eventually, the society will receive faster and easier health services,” said Bey.

After the opening of this facility, the utilization of Unpad Hospital will begin with educational and learning activities for the academic community of Unpad.

Currently, Unpad Hospital already has an operational permit as a type C hospital. After that, the services will be widely accessible for society after the issuance of an operational permit as a type B hospital from the West Java provincial government soon.

On that occasion, Bey stated his hope that Unpad Hospital would be a centre of excellence for academic, research, and health services. Bey also hopes that Unpad Hospital can give high-quality health services to society with affordable fees. Moreover, Bey hopes that Unpad Hospital will be a driving force for the development of healthcare services in West Java.

Bey also reminds us about the hospital care that must be provided. “I believe with strong leadership and solid cooperation from every part of the hospital, this place (Unpad Hospital) will be able to achieve its goals and give huge benefit to society,” said Bey.

In her opening speech, the Rector of Unpad said that the hospital was built to contribute to society, including the society of West Java, related to high-quality health services supported by research results and technology. Unpad Hospital is also made as an educational and training tool for professional personnel in the field of medicine, also developing innovation in clinical care and healthcare for society.

“So, the goal is indeed noble, not only as an educational tool but also as give contribution to the surrounding society, especially West Java, to be more healthy. Therefore, the motto is ‘healthy and smart’,” stated the Rector.

The construction of Unpad Hospital is planned to be carried out in two phases. Recently, the first phase of construction is done using independent funds from the collaboration of Unpad and the provincial government of West Java. The medical tools also have been obtained from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, also alumni.

Furthermore, the second phase of construction will be established through the KPBU program (a collaboration between government and business entities). The second phase of construction of the hospital will be developed into a type A hospital.

“For Unpad itself, the presence and ownership of Educational Hospital is very strategic, supporting the improvement of educational and research quality in the field of medicine, also the benefit of Unpad for the society of West Java, Indonesia, also the world,” said the Rector.

The Chief Executive Officer of Unpad Hospital Herry Herman, dr., Sp.OT., PhD said that the health personnel of Unpad Hospital was filled from the five faculties of health cluster at Unpad, namely Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Nursery, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Psychology.

“Our staffing is done by utilizing the 5 faculties related to medicine at Universitas Padjadjaran,” said Henry.

On that opportunity, a Collaboration Agreement between Unpad and BJB related to the Provision of Banking Products and Services to Unpad Hospital is also done by the Vice-Rector for Resources and Finance Prof. Ida Nurlinda with the Head of Institutional Relations Division of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten, Tbk.
