Febri dan Michelle won the competition with their Blue Green Nature-Feed, made of spirulina for poultry. “This product gives a lot of benefits for poultry. Yolk becomes more reddish, the meat becomes brighter with bigger mass,” said Michelle. It all began with their interests in poultry and spirulina. “We were just giving spirulina to hens. It turned out that the hens benefited so much from them,” said Michelle.

Farmers feed their poultry with extra supplements or drugs. This of course affects the poultry’s growth and meat quality. The Blue Green Nature-Feed will enable the farmers to skip the supplements and drugs because the main ingredients, spirulina, are already good nutrition replacement. Chemicals can be accordingly reduced.

The product enabled them to excel and defeat other contestants from 17 universities in Indonesia. The competition is a program designed to train and advise students in developing ideas or solutions on technologies that would benefit the society at large.

“We were given training on how to make proposal and present it before a team of reviewers,” said Febri. The proposal is also the key to greater opportunities to develop their product.

“We are now registering the product to get the intellectual property right. We are hoping for full support from the University,” said he.
