The atmosphere of congregational tarawih prayers at the Universitas Padjadjaran Grand Mosque.*

[Unpad Media Channel] During the Ramadan 1445 H, Unversitas Padjadjaran Grand Mosque (Masjid Raya Unpad or MRU) organizes several activities. The organization of these activities is aimed at providing a platform for Unpad community who wish to focus on and increase their religious practices during Ramadan.

The Coordinator of DKM Media Department Coordinator at MRU Dr. Hery Wibowo, M.M. said that there were seven activities that serves as daily services provided by MRU. Besides as a platform to increase religious practices during Ramadan, the activities also serve as a platform for connecting the bonds of friendship among Unpad community.

In the released received by Unpad Media Channel, the seven activities are the organization of congregational five daily prayers and free iftar or snacks for Unpad community and the general public every day.

“This free snacks program is participated by dozens to hundreds of students from various study programs and faculties. For students who live in boarding house in Jatinangor, this program surely is very beneficial in providing them to break their fast and perform congregational prayers,” said Henry.

Moreover, the organization of congregational tarawih prayers with the religious speakers from Unpad administrators and a team of Islamic Education professor at Unpad. There is also the recitation of the Hadith text from Imam Nawawi’s Forty Hadith collection during the congregational Dhuhr prayer, dawn lectures and Quranic recitation sessions, Tarawih prayer led by Unpad students with good Quranic recitation skills, and thematic discussions led by Unpad professor teams, both online and offline.

“Throughout Ramadan, there’s a strong engagement from the academic community in various programs, particularly those who participate on the iftar program, congregational Maghrib and Isha prayers, and Tarawih prayers,” Hery explained.

Moreover, as we enter the final 10 days of Ramadan, MRU organizes an i’tikaf program within the mosque premises. Participants in I’tikaf will receive complimentary coupons for both iftar and suhoor meals at MRU.
