[Unpad Media Channel] Soap and shampoo are necessities, acting as hygiene products supporting modern day personal hygiene standards. However, having to carry containers of soap and shampoo may become troublesome when travelling, not the least because of the space which they take up.
A group of Universitas Padjadjaran students has attempted to solve the issue by inventing a 2-in-1 soap and shampoo in the form of effervescent tablets, named PillWash. Being easily soluble tablets, PillWash does not take up much inventory space, and is thus more practical to be carried while traveling or doing activities outside of the house.
The group of students is made up of Muhammad Faraz Tsaabitah from the Agrotechnopreneurship study program, Putra Rafli Ramdani from Chemistry, M. Abyan Alsifaba from Agroindustrial Technology, and two Management students, Ahmad Zulkifli Hanif and Sahala Lumban Gaol. The team operated under the supervision of Dr. Gema Wibawa Mukti, SP., MP.
PillWash itself was an end product of the team’s participation in the PKM-K, a Ministry of Education and Culture program wherein groups of students may submit project proposals to be awarded funding, which the PillWash team accomplished.
Tsaabitah explained that the effervescent nature of PillWash makes it convenient to be used wherever and whenever. “You only have to dissolve it in 10ml of water to use PillWash,” he explained.
PillWash only contains pure, natural ingredients, namely Aloe vera and avocado skin extract. Aloe vera, which is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E, also helps to moisturize and firm up the skin.
Furthermore, PillWash also contains amino acid, which provides nutrition for the hair and reduces hair loss, and saponin which acts as an antiseptic.
Tsaabitah added that PillWash is perfect for locations where sanitation is not easily accessible, such as in a natural environment or the outdoors. That is why the product is an ideal choice for travelers with a penchant for nature.
“PillWash’ tagline is ‘One Pill, One Bath’,” he explained.
The product is packaged in an easily-carried and small bottle which is fits perfectly in any travel bag. Tsaabitah also made sure the product is safe to be used by all.
“We have found no side effects of its use, since we only utilize natural chemicals which are environmentally friendly,” he concluded. (arm/ICP)*
