[Unpad Media Channel] Padjadjaran University Choir (PSM Unpad) have once again won gold for Indonesia with its victory at Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) 2024 on Wednesday, July 31. During the competition, PSM Unpad won the Mixed Voices Open and Musica Sacra Open categories, with 90.10 and 88.47 points respectively.
The Head of Unpad’s SICF team, William Immanuel, expressed his gratitude for the team’s achievement. He added that SICF 2024 is a valuable experience for the team, especially for the active students experiencing the euphoria of competing for the first time.
“Thank God, after our preparation and effort thus far, we were able to win the Mixed Voices Open and became a finalist in the competition’s Grand Prix. It is truly a priceless experience for us to be able to go this far and bring home the medals and achievements,” said Immanuel.
PSM Unpad’s Head Coach, Arvin Zeinullah, said that SICF is has a good reputation and the potential to be an attractive competition for many countries going forward.
He added that the competition’s fun atmosphere also creates a platform for interaction between choral groups from around the world. He hoped that the competition will motivate PSM Unpad to keep on competing in the future.
“My hope is that this becomes a motivating factor for PSM Unpad to keep improving and sharing their experiences while inspiring their friends, either directly or through their social media,” said Zeinullah.
During the event, PSM Unpad sang several songs in the Mixed Voices Open and Musica Sacra Open categories. The team sang Si, Ch’io Vorrei Morire by Claudio Montaverdi, Doxologia by Ily Matthew Maniano, and Malin by Bagus S. Utomo at the Mixed Voices Open event. For the Musica Sacra Open category, the team sang Unser Keiner Lebt Ihm Selber, SWV 369 by Heinrich Schutz, The Conversion of Saul by Z. Randall Stroope, and Sanctus by Ivan Yohan.
