[Unpad Media Channel] Prof. Rina Indiastuti inaugurated the facilities of the Disability Services Center, Assistive Learning Hub, and Telkom Digital Talent Corner, located in the Kandaga Building/Central Library of Unpad, Jatinangor, on September 5th, 2024. These three facilities are a result of collaboration between Unpad, the British Council, and PT Telkom Indonesia.
The Rector expressed appreciation and gratitude for the inauguration of facilities that can be utilized by students, supporting Unpad’s goal of becoming an inclusive higher education institution. The establishment of these facilities is also a commitment from Unpad to prepare a generation of youth that can meet the developmental needs of Indonesia.
“This facility is here to prepare the youth, particularly Unpad students, including those with special needs, to transform into talents that will contribute to Indonesia’s development towards a Golden Indonesia,” said the Rector.
Furthermore, the Rector mentioned that Unpad aims to be an inclusive university accessible to students from various backgrounds, including those from economically disadvantaged groups and individuals with disabilities. Unpad not only strives for accessibility but also aims to be an inclusive institution that meets international quality standards.
“Unpad understands that improving quality and recognition is insufficient if it is not accessible to students from various backgrounds. It must be accessible, inclusive, high-quality, and meet international standards, which is why the Disability Services Center is designed with these international standards in mind,” she explained.
In addition to being an inclusive institution, Unpad is also committed to providing education supported by effective technology through digital learning. Therefore, the inauguration of the Digital Talent Corner facility is expected to serve as a knowledge resource for students to enhance their digital skills.
The Rector hopes that the inauguration of these facilities will benefit both Unpad students and those outside the university. She encouraged students to make good use of these resources.
“Let us use these facilities for the broader benefit of developing high-quality human resources in Indonesia, as envisioned by Unpad. This collaboration is dedicated to our beloved nation. This is part of Unpad’s future; students are welcome to access it. May this special facility bring blessings,” she stated.
The inauguration event was also attended by Unpad’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita, GM Regional 2 Large Enterprise & Government Service of Telkom Indonesia, Rika Febriliantina, Dr. Dante Rigmalia, M.Pd. from the National Commission on Disability, as well as university leaders and Unpad students. Additionally, the Country Director of the British Council Indonesia, Summer Xia, also delivered her remarks virtually. (SA)*
