A team from Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) met with Qatar University (QU) to explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at enhancing the quality of education, career development for graduates, alumni partnerships, and internationalization on Thursday, September 19th, 2024,. The meeting took place at the Higher Administration Building at QU in Doha, Qatar.

The Unpad team, which included Dr. Rosaria Mita Amalia, M.Hum., Head of the Career Development Center; Dr. Prita Amalia, SH., MH., Head of the Alumni Partnership Office; and Dandi Supriadi, MA (SUT), Ph.D., Head of the Public Communication Office, was accompanied by Ivan Rismi Polontali, Head of Information, Social, and Cultural Functions at the Indonesian Embassy in Doha. They were received by Ghader Zainal, Director of the Career Development Center at QU, along with the heads of the Alumni Relations and International Offices.

Dr. Rosaria Mita Amalia presented an overview of Unpad and potential areas for collaboration based on each university’s programs. Possible collaborative initiatives discussed included student exchange programs, double degrees, and visiting lectures.

“We hope that QU can become one of the overseas campuses for Unpad students participating in exchange programs, with one promising initiative being a double degree in Islamic Economics,” said Dr. Rosaria.

Dandi Supriadi, Ph.D., highlighted that this collaboration aligns with Unpad’s vision for internationalization. He emphasized that the partnership with QU would enhance Unpad’s global recognition and its benefits to the community by providing greater access to higher education opportunities.

“There are numerous collaborative plans that can be implemented, such as research partnerships, student exchanges, or scholarship programs,” Dandi added.

Qatar University is ranked first in Qatar and holds the 122nd position in the QS World University Rankings. As Qatar’s leading university, QU boasts prominent alumni who occupy significant positions in the Qatari government as well as various renowned industries worldwide.

“We are interested in how QU manages its alumni database. This is an area where collaboration could flourish, particularly in how QU leverages information technology for independent alumni management,” said Dr. Prita.

QU welcomed the exploration of collaboration and expressed interest in discussing further details to realize it. “We can continue this exploration with future meetings online to discuss relevant details more comprehensively,” stated Ghader Zainal. (SA)*
