[Unpad Media Channel] Indonesian universities, including Universitas Padjadjaran, along with their graduates, are encouraged to seize the career opportunities available across various fields in Qatar, where many positions offer competitive roles and salaries.
According to H.E. Ridwan Hassan, the Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, Indonesian universities could contribute not only as a workforce provider but also by offering collaborations to address current and future challenges facing Qatar. Ambassador Ridwan shared this insight during a talk show titled “Building World-Class Education at Universitas Padjadjaran,” organized by the Unpad Alumni Association Qatar Chapter and the Indonesian Embassy in Doha on Friday, September 20th, 2024. The event was part of “Unpad Saba Doha,” held in Qatar from September 18th to 21st, and featured key speakers, including Unpad’s Rector Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, SE., MSIE., oil and gas industry practitioner Ir. Al Musthofa, MMSI., and HR expert Gurun Hermawan, SE., with the session moderated by HR practitioner Erwien Gabiraldi, S.SPsi., M.Psi. Prof. Diana Sari, SE., M.Mgt., Ph.D., Director of Unpad’s Commercial Business Development and Investment Agency, was also present.
Eighty-five percent of Qatar’s population consists of expatriates, creating opportunities in fields beyond oil and gas, the country’s economic backbone. “Unpad has a chance to offer solutions to these challenges through targeted proposals,” said Ambassador Ridwan. The Ambassador also encouraged the exploration of collaborations beyond traditional Government-to-Government channels, suggesting People-to-People partnerships with innovative projects.
During the talk, the Rector highlighted Unpad’s global-quality education initiatives, available facilities, academic programs, and research centers. She introduced Unpad’s prominent programs, including Unpad Luhung and Unpad EdEx, an online learning platform accessible internationally. “We are advancing Unpad’s international reach by expanding partnerships and collaborating with our alumni for stronger global recognition,” stated Prof. Rina.
The session also introduced the Doha Education Scholarships for Outstanding Future (DESOF) program, aimed at supporting Unpad’s Endowment Fund, which provides scholarships internationally. Alumni working in Qatar, Ali Musthofa and Gurun Hermawan, shared their recruitment and work experiences in Qatar, pointing out many opportunities for Unpad graduates and areas where Unpad could collaborate with its alumni and Qatar-based industries.
Davina Chairunnissah, Chair of the Unpad Alumni Association in Qatar, emphasized the event’s role in supporting Unpad’s vision of being globally impactful. “We are committed to promoting Unpad’s contributions to knowledge and technology development, strengthening its international reputation,” she stated.
The Unpad Saba Doha series also facilitated discussions with various professional groups, including Indonesian HR professionals in Qatar, Qatar Care, the largest home care provider in Qatar, and the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) Qatar. Additionally, Unpad’s Head of Public Communication Office, Dandi Supriadi, MA (SUT)., Ph.D., was a guest on the KBRI Doha Minkof Podtalk podcast, sharing insights about Unpad. (SA)*
