[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran received a visit from assessors representing ASIIN as part of the accreditation process for four study programs at the Faculty of Agroindustrial Technology (FTIP). The visit was held at the Livin’ Meeting Room, Unpad Rectorate Building, Unpad’s Jatinangor campus, on Monday, November 4, 2024.

The visitation consisted of discussions regarding FTIP and its many aspects which will be assessed during the accreditation. Unpad’s Rector, Prof. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita, Ph.D., FTIP’s Dean, Dr. Sarifah Nurjanah, and one of FTIP’s Vice Deans, Robi Andoyo, Ph.D., were among those representing Unpad in the discussions alongside the Heads of Study Program. Dr. -Ing. Mathis Wollny moderated the discussions, representing the team of assessors.

During the discussion, the Rector explained the internationalization strategy applied in Unpad. Said strategy revolves around efforts to help Unpad participate more actively on the global stage, which includes increasing the number of international students and accreditation from renowned international associations, such as ASIIN.

“I believe, we need this accreditation from ASIIN as a recognition of the standards we have achieved,” explained Prof. Kartasasmita.

Adding to that, Robi Andoyo, Ph.D., explained the spread of FTIP graduates in terms of career paths. Andoyo mentioned that the education provided by Unpad FTIP is proven to equip its graduates well, even those working in professions unrelated to the program.

“According to our tracer study, approximately 70 percent of our graduates work in fields linear with their studies. The 30 percent although not working in linear fields, still applied the General Competencies that we taught,” added Andoyo.

The four FTIP study programs to be accredited are the Bachelor’s Degree programs for Food Technology and Agro-Industrial Technology, as well as the Master’s Degree programs for Agro-Industrial Technology and Agriculture Industrial Technology.

Prior to the visit, Unpad had built a productive relationship with ASIIN through the accreditations awarded to many study programs in Unpad, specifically at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, and Faculty of Pharmacy.*(ICP)
