[Unpad.ac.id, 6/09/2013] Universitas Padjadjaran received three awards from Mix Marketing Communication Magazine as one of the best universities providing management and communication education in Indonesia. The awards were handed in the award ceremony on Thursday (5/9) in Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta.
Faculty of Communication (Fikom) Unpad ranked first as Indonesia Best School of Communications 2013 among other prominent schools of communication provided by public universities. Faculty of Economy and Business (FEB) placed sixth as Indonesia Best School of Management 2013, and Unpad was at seventh as communication and management education provider.
According to the Editor in Chief of Mix Marketing Communication Magazine (from Swa media group), Kemal E. Gani, the committee had conducted a survey in five major cities (Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, and Medan) with 2,100 student and parent respondents and 155 companies as stakeholder. Fikom Unpad was selected as the best school of communications for the A-accredited public university category with total index 8.19, followed by Communication Studies Universitas Indonesia (8.09), Universitas Gajah Mada (7.99), Universitas Airlangga (7.62), Universitas Diponegoro (7.52), and Universitas Bandar Lampung (6.75).
The award was received by Dean of Fikom Unpad, Prof. Deddy Mulyana, M.A., Ph.D., yang accompanied by Vice Dean I, Dr. Atwar Bajari and Vice Dean III, Dr. Aceng Abdullah. FEB Unpad was represented by Manager of Education and International Cooperation Dr. Diana Sari,SE, M.Mgt.
Four years in a row
Prof. Mulyana said after the ceremony that in the last few years, Fikom had been one of the most wanted faculties not only in Unpad, but also in Indonesia. This year, Communication Studies became the most favorite out of 43 studies for Bachelor Program in Unpad.
All studies in the faculty are accredited A based on the assessment by the National Accreditation Institution for University (BAN PT), Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture. This year, Master Program Fikom Unpad becomes the only Communication Master Program out of 18 programs in Indonesia accredited A, based on BAN PT assessment.
“Fikom is on the verge of becoming world class school. Academicians from many countries have participated in giving general lectures, seminars, and classes. This year, a number of lecturers have written in several international journals, done postdoctoral research in Australia and the Netherland, and spoken in international conferences in Russia, China, Thailand, and Turkey. Newly graduated doctors will be home from Australia, the Netherland, and France, while others are taking doctoral program in England, Germany, and the Netherland. This is the best achievement so far in 53 years of the establishment,” said Prof. Mulyana. The title of Indonesia Best School of Communications is the fourth one in a row since 2010.
