[Unpad Media Channel] The Faculty of Economics and Business (abbreviated as FEB) Universitas Padjadjaran has officially embarked on the journey toward obtaining accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This milestone began with a virtual opening meeting on Thursday, December 19th, 2024, led by AACSB Mentor, Prof. Ross James. AACSB accreditation is an internationally recognized standard of excellence awarded to business schools that demonstrate high standards in education, research, and societal impact.

“This accreditation process marks a transformative journey for FEB Unpad, aligning our institution with globally recognized benchmarks in business education. With a dedicated team, we are determined to achieve this significant milestone,” said Prof. Dr. Nunuy Nur Afiah, S.E., M.Si., Ak., the Dean of FEB Unpad.

Prof. James, Dean of the University of Canterbury Business School, New Zealand, also a member of the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee, provides critical guidance on the process, which can span 5 to 7 years. The virtual meeting marked the beginning of the mentoring program for drafting the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER), a foundational step in the lengthy process toward global accreditation.

During the meeting, Prof. James highlighted the importance of having a clear and concise vision and mission statement. He noted that a well-defined mission forms the basis for strategic planning and ensures the institution’s long-term sustainability. He also outlined the initial steps in developing the iSER, starting with a gap analysis report to compare the school’s current conditions with AACSB standards.

FEB Unpad’s AACSB accreditation journey began with a comprehensive pre-accreditation phase. The faculty met the requirements for a Unit Application in 2022 and an Eligibility Application in 2024. After receiving approval from the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee on November 8, 2024, FEB Unpad moved into the formal accreditation phase, starting with the preparation of the iSER.

This phase is expected to last two years, during which FEB Unpad will work closely with Prof. James before independently progressing to subsequent stages. These include drafting progress reports and preparing for a peer review visit, which must be completed within three years.

FEB Unpad’s commitment to achieving AACSB accreditation reflects its dedication to continuous improvement and its mission to provide world-class education that prepares graduates to excel in an increasingly interconnected global landscape. (SA)*
