[Unpad Media Channel] The Office of International Affairs at Universitas Padjadjaran organizes the Discover U: Wellbeing Seminar with the theme “How to Become a Wellbeing Sojourner” as part of its efforts to support self-discovery, personal development, and adaptation for international students in Indonesia. Being held on Friday, February 21st, 2025, at Bale Sawala, Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, the event serves as a platform for international students at Unpad to gain insights and strategies to enhance their well-being and adaptability in a new environment.

“Being a student, especially an international student, is not just about academics but also about personal growth, building relationships, and enjoying life while balancing the challenges that come with it,” said Unpad’s Director of Academic, Prof. Dr. Aliya Nur Hasanah, S.Si., Apt., M.Si., in her opening speech.

In her remarks, the Head of the Unpad International Office, Anggia Utami Dewi, S.IP., M.IS., Ph.D., stated that this seminar was part of Unpad’s initiative to create a supportive environment for international students. Unpad is also committed to providing the necessary facilities and support to help international students grow academically and personally during their time at the university.

“Your presence here is valuable, and you are not alone. I hope your experience studying at Unpad will be an enjoyable one. May the time spent here become a meaningful part of your life journey,” said Anggia.

Tutty I. Sodjakusumah, Dra., M.Sc., M.Litt., a Cultural Psychology expert from the Faculty of Psychology at Unpad, delivered a presentation titled “How to Become a Wellbeing Sojourner: Surviving Living and Studying Overseas.” In her talk, Tutty explained that international students are visitors, and as such, they face various challenges, including adapting to new habits, culture, and academic life.

“As a sojourner, international students in Indonesia have several responsibilities to fulfill. These responsibilities are not only towards themselves but also towards their home institutions, families, and the host country (Indonesia),” explained Tutty.

Through this seminar, international students are expected to be better prepared and more confident in facing the challenges of living and studying in Indonesia. Unpad remains committed to creating a supportive environment that fosters the growth and success of international students, both academically and personally, throughout their studies in Indonesia.
