[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran welcomes a delegation from the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, Poland, to explore opportunities for cooperation in various fields, particularly in academics and research. The visit is personally received by Unpad Rector, Prof. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita, at the Rector’s Meeting Room in the Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. The meeting discussed potential collaborations across multiple disciplines.
“The purpose of our delegation is to gain a better understanding of potential cooperation with Indonesia. We have identified areas of collaboration, one of which is higher education partnerships with Unpad,” said Marek Woźniak, the Governor of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship.
During the meeting, the Wielkopolska delegation expressed interest in student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and innovative academic programs that could be developed in collaboration with Unpad.
The Rector of Unpad, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita, welcomes the initiative and reaffirmed Unpad’s commitment to expanding its international network to enhance the quality of education and research.
“This is a great opportunity for Unpad. We can continue this collaboration and establish more concrete programs. It is also a great honor for us to form this partnership, especially in specific academic programs,” said Prof. Arief.
Bogumila Kaniewska, the Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland, also the President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) for the 2024–2028 term, expressed her keen interest in collaborating with Unpad, particularly in student exchange programs. This interest aligns with efforts by Polish universities to increase the number of international students. Previously, Unpad and Adam Mickiewicz University signed a Memorandum of Understanding on educational cooperation.
“We are very interested in this initiative because, in Poland, the number of students is currently declining. Therefore, we are highly motivated to expand international collaborations. We have many opportunities and are open to working with universities from other countries, including Unpad in Indonesia,” said Kaniewska.
During the discussion, Unpad and the Polish delegation also explore potential collaborations in research areas such as nutrition, food, and green energy. The Polish delegation emphasized the importance of establishing a consortium between universities in Poland and Indonesia to develop joint research projects that benefit both nations.
The Unpad’s representatives are the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Zahrotur Rusyda Hinduan, S.Psi., MOP., PhD., the Director of Cooperation and Alumni Partnerships Prof. Dr. Tomy Perdana, S.P., M.M., and the Head of the International Affairs Office Anggia Utami Dewi, S.IP., M.IS., Ph.D.
The Polish delegation includses the President of the Wielkopolska Provincial Parliament Tatiana Sokotowska, the CEO of the Regional Development Agency Maciej Sytek, the Secretary of the Wielkopolska Region Tomasz Grudziak, the Director of the Departmenet of Econom, Beata Joanna Kozinska, and the interpreter Iwona Koztowiec.
This visit is expected to be the first step in strengthening academic relations between Unpad and higher education institutions in Poland, such as Adam Mickiewicz University. The partnership will not only strengthen ties between Indonesia and Poland but also create opportunities for students and researchers to contribute to impactful international projects.
