[Unpad Media Channel] Finder U-CoE (University Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology) Universitas Padjadjaran has received a donation of several laboratory instruments from four prominent Japanese companies. The symbolic handover was held at the Joint Meeting Room, Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, on Thursday, 23rd October 2025. The donation reflects the strong commitment of Japanese industries to supporting scientific research in Indonesia and strengthening international collaboration in the fields of science and technology.
The four companies involved in the grant are Eriez Magnetics Japan Co., Ltd., Makino Mfg. Co., Ltd., Tokyo Screen Co., Ltd., and Tsutsui Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd. The official grant letter was addressed to Prof. Dr. Eng. I Made Joni, CEO of FiNder U-CoE, and signed directly by the executives of each company. The ceremony was attended by Unpad representatives including Vice Rector for Research, Partnership, and Business, Prof. Rizky Abdulah, Director of Cooperation and Alumni Partnership, Prof. Tomy Perdana, and Finder CEO, Prof. I Made Joni.
Based on the official letter, the donated research instruments were previously used at the companies’ facilities in Japan. All equipment has been fully written off in their accounting records, allowing the donation to be granted free of charge to Finder U-CoE, with transportation and logistics costs covered by the receiving institution.
Prof. Made Joni expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the industry’s support. He emphasized that this collaboration will further strengthen Finder’s research capabilities and open new opportunities for academic–industrial partnerships.
“This support from our Japanese industry partners is highly meaningful for reinforcing our research capacity. Such collaboration opens broader pathways for future cooperation in both academic and industrial sectors,” he stated.
Through this donation, Finder U-CoE received various research instruments that support the development of materials, energy, and nanotechnology sciences. Eriez Magnetics Japan Co., Ltd. donated Tube Magnets for research in material engineering and particle processing. Company President Hideaki Tanno highlighted that this contribution is intended to reinforce research between the two countries.
“We hope these Tube Magnets will serve as a valuable asset for FiNder U-CoE research and strengthen scientific collaboration between Japan and Indonesia,” he said.
Makino Mfg. Co., Ltd. donated a Pin Type Mill, a precision milling tool for nano-material research. Its CEO, Yuhei Makino, conveyed that the donation demonstrates the company’s support for advancing research in Southeast Asia.
“Our decision to donate this equipment reflects our aspiration to boost international scientific collaboration and enhance research capacity in the region,” Makino stated.
Tokyo Screen Co., Ltd. provided a Test Sieve for particle size distribution analysis in materials research. The company’s President and Director, Yoshihiro Ogita, explained that the contribution aligns with their mission to support precision-based research development.
“We believe that the Test Sieve will contribute significantly to experimental quality at FiNder U-CoE and support research under controlled conditions,” Ogita said.
Meanwhile, Tsutsui Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd. donated a V Mixer, a vital instrument for solid material and composite mixing studies. CEO Hideyuki Tsutsui emphasized that the support symbolizes long-term scientific cooperation between Japan and Indonesia.
“This donation reflects our commitment to promoting scientific progress and strengthening international collaboration. We believe it will help enhance the quality of research conducted at FiNder,” he stated.
The grant received by Finder U-CoE embodies the spirit of scientific cooperation between Japanese industry and Indonesian academia. The support represents not only equipment transfer but also a long-term synergy to build a productive and globally competitive research ecosystem.
