The departure ceremony took place at the courtyard of the Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor Campus, on Monday, 1st December 2025.

“This reflects Unpad’s concern for the disasters that occurred in the Sumatra region. We are coordinating closely with IKA, both those based in Bandung and in Sumatra,” said the Head of the Center for Student Creativity Development, Dr. Mohamad Nurzaman, S.Si., M.Si.

Also present during the departure ceremony were the Director of Research, Downstreaming, and Community Engagement Prof. dr. The volunteer team consists of seven members of Unpad Search and Rescue Unit (SAR Unpad), three members of Mahatva Nature Enthusiast Student Association, three members of the Student Regiment Battalion II Unpad, and four representatives from IKA Unpad. On-site, the volunteers will operate under three primary missions: search operations, medical response, and the establishment of a centralized Unpad command post in the affected regions. Unpad has also deployed one ambulance and logistics supplies to support humanitarian operations.

Dr.sc. Yoga Andriana Sendjaja stated that the deployment of volunteers reflects the commitment of Unpad’s academic community to directly support affected residents. He emphasized that most of the personnel have been well trained and prepared to handle emergency situations.
“Since the purpose is to help, our volunteers must maintain their stamina and health. We must ensure that once they are on-site, they remain strong and capable,” said Yoga.

Meanwhile, Taufik Ismail Gurbadi stated that IKA Unpad’s involvement is part of a continuous commitment to contribute through humanitarian actions across the country.
“Our foremost hope is to support our brothers and sisters currently facing disaster. At the same time, this demonstrates that Unpad’s academic community stands united and ready to provide aid wherever needed,” said Taufik.

One of the volunteers, Kakan, expressed his hopes that the team’s presence will help strengthen connections with alumni, students, and families in the affected areas. He said that the volunteers will ensure communication and coordination to keep affected individuals safe and supported.
“We will focus on search and rescue according to each volunteer’s expertise, while working in coordinated and structured command,” said Kakan, who also serves as Head of the Disaster Division of IKA Unpad.
