Unpad student executive body (BEM Kema) organizes a series of community service events

[Unpad.ac.id, 20/11/2013] As a form of community service, Unpad student executive body (BEM Kema) organized a series of events entitled “Padjadjaran Sehat 2013.” The series encompassed little doctor programme for children, seminar on healthy diet, free basic food items (sembako) distribution, and free medical treatment, and was held as part of Unpad Berbagi program.

The first event, Little Doctor programme, was held on November 9th and 10th at the room C41 and basketball court of Unpad Faculty of Medicine, Jatinangor. The event was participated by students from all elementary schools in Jatinangor. They were given a presentation by Volunteer Doctor (Vol-D) on healthy lifestyle to raise their awareness about children’s health related diseases and how to prevent them. They were also given training in how to brush their teeth and wash their hands properly. The event was closed by awarding the best young doctors and the reading of Padjadjaran little doctor pledge. They were also given certificates for participating in this event. The best young doctor awards went to Arief M Hakim form Neglasari elementary school and Azzhara Rusmana from Cisempur elementary.

Another event in this series was a seminar about “OCD on health” with the speaker from Bandung Health Polytechnic, dr. Judiono and moderated by Elvira Juwita Saraswati. The event was hold on Saturday (11/16) and was attended by no less than 50 participants, most of whom were college and high school students from Jatinangor.

The closing of the events took place at Unpad Jati stadium, Jatinangor, on Sunday (11/17). The series of events was closed with free medical treatment to Jatinangor local residents (in cooperation with entrepreneur social service group), cheap basic food items (sembako) distribution (in cooperation with Bandung Zakah House), and blood donor (in collaboration with DOTS or Dentistry on The Spot Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Padjadjaran).

“2013’s Healthy Padjadjaran is the largest community service event so far organized by Unpad student executive body and we are proud of it,” expressed Zunarto Saputra coordinating minister for student social selfare of Unpad student executive body.
