[Unpad.ac.id, 25/01/2016] Starting in admissions year of 2016, Universitas Padjadjaran will offer free tuition for new students for Medical and Medical Specialist Education Degree in Faculty of Medicine. This policy is takenin order to support the needs of doctors and specialists in various areas, especially in West Java.

“In reality, those areas require man power therefore they will provide the cost of education,” said Rector Unpad, Prof. Dr. med. Tri Hanggono Achmad, at the press conference in Room Executive Lounge Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, Monday (25/01).
The press conference was attended by Vice Rector of Academic and Students Affairs Unpad, Dr. Arry Bainus, M.A., Director of Education Unpad, Prof. Dr. Budi Setiabudiawan, dr., Sp.A-K., M.Kes., Dean of Faculty of Medicine Unpad, Dr. Yoni Fuadah Syukriani, dr., MSi., Sp.F., DFM, and Director of Governance and Public Communication Unpad, Dr. Soni A. Nulhaqim, S.Sos., M.Si.
Furthermore, Rector said that the availability of doctors and specialists in West Java is uneven. Most doctors and specialists are still concentrated in large cities. Reflecting on this matter, Universitas Padjadjaran is committed to helping the distribution of doctors and specialists to all areas in West Java.
In the 2016/2017 academic year, the faculty will accept 250 students, of 125 from SNMPTN and another 125 from SBMPTN track. All these students passing the selection will be received scholarships issued by local government of 27 city/regency in West Java and various parties, including private institutions.
Despite the free tuition, several terms are set for students of Medical and Medical Specialist Education in Unpad, in form of agreement between the candidates with Unpad. The content of the agreement is to a certain extent stated that they will serve in the specified region/institution specified. Otherwise, Unpad will not issue their diplomas.
“Unpad determines to build an attitude of earnest service for the community by its graduates. If they are not willing to fulfill the agreement, they shall not select courses in Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran. Many other universities are providing other medical education, “said Rector.
Dean of Faculty of Medicine Unpad, Dr. Yoni Fuadah Syukriani, dr., M.Si., Sp.F., DFM., considered that this free tuition program in the faculty aims to produce graduates who care about their community. “It is one way to facilitate their students so that they can work well in the community and advance their career,” said Yoni. *
