Unpad State University as Legal Entity, From Knowledge Factory Toward Knowledge Hub

[Unpad.ac.id, 2/02/2016] After holding the status as State University as Legal Entity, there were various ongoing developments of Universitas Padjadjaran. As part of repositioning, Unpad is now not only a knowledge factory but to become a knowledge hub.

Chairman of Board of Trustees of Universitas Padjadjaran, Rudiantara, MBA., Drs. said that by becoming a knowledge hub, Unpad will be hold more interaction with stakeholders. Also of its graduates, they are the ones who will be encouraged to interact more with the community.

“Therefore it was not only to graduate but what is done after graduation. Meanwhile, Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, said that Unpad’s role as knowledge hub could be executed if Unpad has strong network. “Essentially, as knowledge hub we does not speak only within, but we speak out. What Unpad could do for the people shall start from region of West Java, “said Rector.

Furthermore, Rector said that to be more beneficial to society, the power lies in research, and research grant in the future in order to be able to be implemented to the area. Thus, the current Unpad is developing “Professor At a Village” program, which is based on the Leaderships Academic Grant Program.

“Nowadays most professors hold college activities. They should be encouraged because as academic leader, when they are out there, all academic strength actually applied in variety of areas. Hopefully we can have an impact on strengthening the more visible development, “said Rector.

In line with Rector, Chairman of Academic Senate, Prof. Oekan Soekotjo Abdoellah said that in carrying out research, it is important to note the impact of the research. It should increase the benefit of society. For example, how to reduce the infant mortality rate, reduce poverty, and so on.

“Unpad’s research is in accordance with the highlighted knowledge hub. Therefore we can collaborate with multiple stakeholders, also establish relationships with one another and transform it into a form of research that real,” explained Prof. Oekan.

Within Professor At a Village program, research was carried out multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary. It did not only involve professors, but also students.

In addition to these programs, Rector also said that at this time, Unpad is also concerned on transfer of assets from government to Unpad (in exception of land). “As soon as possible, now in 2016, we cleared transfer of assets from the government to Unpad,” said Rector.

Furthermore, Unpad will also conduct financial governance better. “In the future, we want to build self-reliance and encourage our independency of the funds spent by the government,” said Rector. *
