Coordinator of Mawapres Unpad selection, Dr. Yus Nugraha, M.A., said the selection was held for two days to appoint three best students from every level. Selection process featured interviews of their related scientific papers, English language ability, excellent achievement, as well as personality.

In the interview with PR Unpad, Tuesday (03/05), Yus said that there were 17 assessment teams from Unpad involved in the selection. The team consists of Unpad Lecturers working in the field of student affairs. In addition, the committee also invited national level Mawapres Jury Bambang Wisnu Adi, to provide more complete guidance in relation to the preparation of participant selection.

“Citing Bambang’s statement, Mawapres competition is the most complete and comprehensive competitions there is,” said Yus.

Furthermore, this Lecturer of Faculty of Psychology stated that Mawapres was said to be the most comprehensive because of collaboration between aspects of knowledge with soft skill. It was realized through early stages of selection at the moment, namely quantitative assessment for scientific papers selection, English language ability, and achievement of excellence, as well as a special assessment on personal competence.

“Personality is not given numbers, but this is the most decisive. When three other selection processes already provided quantitative values, yet in terms of psychology it could be seen whether one is worthy or not to be a candidate, “Yus explained.

The main topics of this round of Mawapres was “Science and Innovation for Competitiveness”. The topic consisted of 20 sub-scientific topics for Bachelor degree and 10 subtopics to Diploma level.

The twenty participants were outstanding students who have been selected at the faculty level, including 16 students from courses, and four students from the Diploma program. Later, this selection would determine three students of degree courses and 3 Diploma program students.

“Having been elected three S1 and D3 students, we will undertake further development to appoint one student of Bachelor and one of Diploma who will become Unpad representatives,” said Yus.

Within the next two weeks hopefully the committee could appoint two Mawapres Unpad students to compete on national level. Yus said that the registration of Mawapres national level would be closed on 25 May.

“At the very least, Mawapres Unpad became candidates at the national level,” said Yus.

Meanwhile, Director of Student Affairs and Alumni Unpad Dr. Ir. Heryawan Kemal Mustafa, M.Sc., said that there was a change in this year selection process. The amendment is process of socializing among the participants, assessment team, and organizers for the selection to be more fluid.

“Hopefully with the change, participants can be more relaxed and let out their optimal ability, “said Heryawan.*
