Attending the inauguration were leadership of the faculty, IKA administrators of faculty, board of directors of Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung Hospital and Cicendo Eye Hospital, Head of Library Unit Unpad Wina Erwina, dra., M.A., families of Prof. Dr. Rd. M. Djoehana Wiradikarta, as well as professors and alumni of the faculty. Also attending was Chairman of Ika Unpad, Hikmat Kurnia.

In his speech, Rector said that library is an integral part of educational activity. “This is our effort to build awareness of inspiration and values of university on how to build our future,” said Rector.

The library naming with Djoehana Wiradikarta is deemed appropriate, given the strong role of the late Prof. Dr. Rd. M. Djoehana to the development of the faculty. Prof. Djoehana was the first Dean of the faculty in 1957. “This has more value than merely the establishment of a library,” said Rector.

In addition to providing knowledge, the library is also a forum for the delivery of values developed by Prof. Dr. Rd. M. Djoehana and founder of FK to the younger generation. This is certainly a challenge for a manager to be able to develop a library of more than just an information center.

“Let’s use this library to reactive again the philosophy values of medicine to meet the challenges progress of the times today,” said Rector.

While the Person In Charge (PIP) of library faculty development, Prof. Dr. Endang Sutedja, said the library is an implementation of the program “Ayakan” or Alumni Care for Library conducted Alumni Association of FK faculty.

Based on working meeting of the Ika faculty board result, there was an agreement to renovate the library of the faculty that located in Building VI floor of RSP Unpad. Hopefully the presence of a library in the faculty could be be more representative.

“We fixed the installation of CCTV, increase the thesis space, install new air conditioning and plugs, table discussions, as well as developed library software system,” he explained.

Prof. Endang explained that proposing the name of Prof. Djoehana was the result of a joint agreement with members of the faculty senate. He hoped that with the development of the library it would also provide a space for alumni to contribute strongly to the development of the alma mater.

“Our hope is for the effort of these alumni to continue in the future,” he concluded. *
