[Unpad.ac.id,01/06/2016] Happiness Integrity Transition Study (HITS) program will be applied for new students of Universitas Padjadjaran Undergraduate Level Year Academic 2016/2017. This program is implementation of Joint Preparation Stage (TPB) by all new students from 16 faculties in Unpad.

Director of Education Unpad, Prof. Dr. Budi Setiabudiawan, dr., Sp.A(K), M.Kes. said that just like its name, HITS put forward concept of happiness in learning. “This program will be applied to new students in their first semester for one semester,” said Prof. Budi during the interview at new student administration registration SNMPTN, Wednesday (01/06).
For one semester, new students will be participating in General Courses, Cluster Course, and Program Study Course with no more than 24 credits. On the implementation of the courses together, new students from all study programs will be study in one class, of 40 students in each class.
The subjects are state compulsory subjects for students throughout program study, namely Religion, Pancasila and Kewarganegaraan, as well as Indonesian and English.
“Of 6,000an students, there will be approximately 150 classes of Course Together. The whole classes are divided into two period of the study, i.e. morning and afternoon classes. The lecture itself will be conducted in the room/classroom in all faculties at Jatinangor, “said Prof. Budi.
As for the Course Cluster, Prof. Budi explained that this course is a part of subjects in one or several faculties in accordance with the scientific category. This course is divided into four clusters, namely: Agrocomplex, Science Technology, Social Humanities, and Health.
Program Study Courses are subjects determined by each study program. Prof. Budi said, for this course students attend lectures tailored to their respective program study.
Again Prof. Budi affirmed that HITS program do not add to the amount of credits, courses, as well as change determined curriculum in the study program. This program only repositions subjects that have been implemented in the study program in one semester.
“Until now general courses/cluster was implemented in different semesters in each study program. We reposition them so the subjects are taught in the first semester all. Therefore during study programs course, the student is enrolled at their own program study, “he said.
In addition to following academic subjects, students also will follow the non-academic lecture, like sports to go directly to the communities around Jatinangor.
“The learning process will not just in the classroom, but also in the field,” said Prof. Budi.
The learning process for general courses is set to be held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Tuesday and Thursday are set for study programs and clusters courses. Meanwhile Friday and Saturday will be used to strengthen non-academic competence.
“HITS is a small part of student’s learning process during their study time in Unpad,” said Prof. Budi.
With the concept of happiness, the students will be made comfortable during the lectures. Prof. Budi explained that the reason was for new students to adapt more seamlessly to the college environment, which is actually different from the high school environment. Thus, students will be much better prepared to face lectures in the second until the eight semester.
“The teaching method in schools and colleges is different. Through HITS, students will adapt and be truly prepared. So once they enter the full study program, they Are ready both academically and non-academically, “said Prof. Budi.
Thus, in addition to academic skills, student will also be given information on literacy skills. This ability, according to Prof. Budi, is important for each student in order to support future lectures.
Another objective of this adaptation process is to increase the percentage of punctual graduation rate. Prof. Budi said that the non-optimal percentage of punctual graduation in Unpad is partially caused by stretched student adaptation process in university.
“With HITS program it is expected to build character Unpad graduates,” said Prof. Budi. *
Held in Jatinangor
Lectures of HITS program will be conducted in Jatinangor, including for Faculty of Economics and Business and Faculty of Law. Prof. Budi said, FEB and FH began the academic year 2016/2017 with lectures on campus Jatinangor. It aims to achieve a more integrated learning process.
FEB campus, said Prof. Budi, will occupy a new building near SOR Bale Santika, while FH campus will occupy the former building of the Faculty of Nursing.
Therefore, all new students are required to stay for one semester in Jatinangor. According to Prof. Budi, the dorms in Jatinangor are currently slotted for new students of Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, as well as students receiving Bidikmisi scheme. For other students they could set boarding house/dorm around Jatinangor with Unpad recommendation.
“The recommendation will enable us to control boarding house quality. We want to prepare a special transport to pick up students from the (recommended) boarding house to the campus, “said Prof. Budi. *
