[Unpad.ac.id, 17/06/2016] In 2016/2017 academic year Unpad will improve the overall level of Diploma education of Diploma III onto Diploma IV. The imporved program is termed to become “Applied Bachelor” program and is expected to bridge the graduates to enter Applied Graduate level.

According to Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Unpad, Dr. Arry Bainus, M.A., the limited vocational education of Diploma III will cause graduates to pursue a Masters of Applied degree.
“If they stopped in Diploma III, there will be no link to continue to Applied Graduate program,” said Dr. Arry in the interview.
Diploma IV Program study period will be the same as the undergraduate course, which is 4 years. Dr. Arry said that the difference of Diploma IV program with a undergraduate is that Diploma IV program will focus on vocational education. “Curriculum for Diploma IV is more focused on the practical,” he said.
The Diploma IV education methods, said Dr. Arry, will implement more open extended campus program. The teaching staff of Diploma IV consists of more practitioners from outside campus who have the expertise in accordance with the open study programs. Meanwhile education in undergraduate program is more focused on academic courses.
There are four faculties that are currently holding Diploma III, Faculty of Economics and Business (Program Administration Company Expert), Faculty of Communication (Public Relations), FISIP (Administration and Public Administration), and Faculty of Natural Sciences (Chemical Analysis). The Prodi will all be improved into Diploma IV.
Diploma IV Registration

Coordinator of Entrance Selection Universitas Padjadjaran (SMUP), Muchtaridi, M.Sc., PhD., Apt., says that the naming of Diploma IV study program will be amended by agreement of each program of study. Prodi PAAP has planned to be converted into Taxation Program, Administration Prodi into Public Administration, Public Relations Prodi into Media Production Management, as well as the Prodi Chemical Analysis into Applied Chemistry.
As of June 17, there are three Prodi that has opened registration for the academic year 2016/2017 Diploma IV, namely Midwifery, Public Administration, and Government Administration. Other Prodi are currently still on presentation stage to the Academic Senate and under verification by the Quality Assurance Unit, Universitas Padjadjaran. The verification process is performed to check whether the opening of the Prodi is eligible or not.
Prodi PAAP is still under process for the possibility of opening enrollment in the academic year 2016/2017.
“The decision will be on 20 June, while for Diploma in Applied Chemistry and Media Production Management will be opened in 2017,” said Muchtaridi.
Diploma IV selection registration will be opened on June 20 to July 22. The registration is conducted online at https://smup.unpad.ac.id/ and proceed with clicking the option “Diploma”. Muchtaridi said that the Diploma IV selection process are similar with SNMPTN, using high school grades for three major subjects (Indonesian, English, Mathematics) and subjects assigned by Prodi selection, as well as School selection index.
“But different from SNMPTN and SBMPTN, registration Diploma IV is not restricted by graduation year,” said Muchtaridi.
For this year, Diploma IV program of lectures held in campus Jatinangor and Bandung. Muchtaridi said that for the 2017/2018 academic year, the location of Diploma IV education will be concentrated in the Campus Arjasari, in accordance with the concept of Padjadjaran Transformative Triangle. The degree for Diploma IV graduate is Bachelor of Applied (S.Tr). *
