Rector Inaugurated Two New Building of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Unpad

[Unpad.ac.id, 14/07/2016] Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Unpad now has two new buildings to support academic activities and offices. These two buildings were built with full funding from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), of one Dean building and one lecture building.

The building was officiated by Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the entrance to the new building. The event was conducted by Dean of FPIK Unpad 2009-2013 Dr. Ir. Ayi Yustiati, M.Sc., Dean FPIK Unpad 2005-2009 Prof. Bachrulhajat Koswara, the current Dean of FPIK Dr. Iskandar, M.Sc., and Rektor Unpad at Jatinangor, Thursday (14/07). The official ceremony is also associated with the commemoration of the 11th Anniversary of FPIK Unpad and Eid gathering.

Rector said that with additional campus facility it is expected to encourage FPIK Unpad role in research and national service aspect, especially in the marine sector. “This is expected to be the leading sector milestone for us to develop our scientific capacity,” said Rector.

Furthermore, Rector said that the marine sector should include potentials of biodiversity on Earth. In addition, the marine sector also has a larger space in the region of Indonesia. Therefore scientific development in the marine field should be improved.

“This biggest medium can be explored in the water with all its contents. We can optimize it with a science capital, “said Rector.

With such tremendous “capital” of marine potential, Rector Unpad encouraged FPIK academic community to improve academic productivity. Thus, productivity is expected to produce beneficial scientific optimization for the wider community.

“With the capital of Principal Scientific Pattern (PIP) owned Unpad, we are not only boosting productivity by extracting natural resources, but also to maintain this nature to remain sustainable,” added Rector.

Furthermore, Rector said that with the momentum of the anniversary, the new facility should be able to accelerate a variety of scientific products that have been produced by FPIK Unpad.

In addition to the gathering and the FPIK Unpad new building ceremony, on the same day Rector also visited the campus of Faculty of Geological Engineering(FTG) and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA). On the occasion, the Rector invited academic community and educational staff to re-apply Padjadjaran University Padjadjaran PIP in every activity.*
