[Unpad.ac.id, 20/07/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran provided dormitory service in campus Jatinangor are for a number of new students. Aside from compulsory dormitory students from Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy, the dormitory is allocated for Bidikmisi students.
Head of Unit of Dormitory Management Universitas Padjadjaran, Drs. Sunggoro Tri Rahardjo, M.Si. said they are providing dormitories for 700 students located in the dormitory Bidikmisi Padjadjaran 1 and 2, Dormitory of Ministry of Housing, and the hostel of the Government of West Java Province.
“Unit of Dormitory Management Unpad focuses on organizing accommodation for students of Bidikmisi,” said Sunggoro.
The facilities for students include a bed, desk, wardrobe, bathroom, drying clothes, and simple pantry. “It was supplied with minimum basic needs of a student so s/he can focus on the learning process,” he said.
After registering as a freshman in Unpad, Bidikmisi participants can directly contact Unit of Dormitory Management Unpad to receive an allocation of dormitory. To stay in this dormitory, students are required to pay monthly fees of 125,000 IDR.
In the future, Unpad is planning to set all new students in dormitory for one year. Apart from being a place to stay, dormitory Unpad becomes a place to shape student character, as well as preparing them to be able to graduate on time, achievement, and become graduates who excel in the future.
“The future plan involves setting up a dormitory blocks that will accommodate all students of the first school year,” said Sunggoro. After the first year, students are not required to dormitories so they can better interact with the community around the campus environment.
In addition, Unpad has been listing a number of boarding places in Jatinangor and identify their feasibility. Hopefully, all students Unpad can stay in a good place with good air and water conditions, maintained cleanliness, located in safe location, and convenient to be a place of student learning. Some boarding houses will be invited to partner with Unpad in creating decent housing for students.
“Unpad target is to produce superior graduate. The entire infrastructure must be good. One of supporting infrastructure is residence. The residence must meet the standards that can make a student can learn and study in optimal conditions, “said Sunggoro.
