In his speech, the Rector emphasized the important role of the youth for the future. According to him, the future is in the hands of the youth, for they will be the next generation. To that end, the youth have a major role in deciding what will happen in the future.

“You are the ones to decide what you want to face in the future,” said Rector.

It also affects the University’s present program. Through transformative education, it will be provided many opportunities for the youth to be more self-initiative and increase their capacity.

“Do not just wait for what will be delivered by lecturers. But you have to find what you want, know, and what is needed related to your future, “said Rector.
In addition, to meet the present challenges, it takes interdependence.

Rector also invited the youth to more than just collaboration, but also interdependence. Interdependence is also required to reach the SDGs.

“It is the spirit that must be built, due to the complexity of the challenges we face now, without interdependence we will not solve various issues,” said Rector.

Meanwhile, ASEAN Youth Initiative Conference Project Officer, Adina said that this event was held to inspire the youth, especially in ASEAN to contribute in achieving the SDGs. “This is our contribution to achieving SDGs,” she said.

Director of Media and Promoting AYIC, Nea Maryami Ningtyas also said that this event was held to increase the role of youth in achieving the SDGs. In four days, the event includes project seminars, intensive discussions, and open conference.

“So through these activities, we will issue an action plan. The action plan will be a guide for young people, especially the delegates from ASEAN countries to apply them in their respective countries,” said Nea. *
