[Unpad.ac.id, 28/09/2016] Creative economy should serve as the backbone of the national economy, considering that Indonesia has abundant resources. But this time, the potential of these resources have not been fully maximized, so that the necessary efforts in enhancing the role of the creative and entrepreneurial growth.

“Various activities in the ecosystem creative economy actually encourage the creation of creative entrepreneurs. In this case, the creative economy should serve as the backbone of the Indonesian economy, given the potential of our abundant,” said the Head of the Creative Economy, Triawan Munaf as a keynote speaker in the” 5th UNESCO-APEID Meeting on Entrepreneurship Education: Transforming Entrepreneurs from Jobseeker to Job Giver” at Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata Universitas Padjadjaran, Jl. Dipati Ukur No. 3 Bandung, Wednesday (28/09).
In his presentation, Triawan also revealed the development of creative economy in Indonesia. Today, the creative economy has become one of the ten major economic sectors in Indonesia. In 2013, this sector contributed 7.05% to the national GDP, and is predicted to increase to 12% by 2019.
“Creative Economy Agency is ready to be the vehicle that will bring all this potential to increase the growth of creative industries, with driven by collaboration and synergy with all parties involved,” he said.
On the occasion, also conducted the signing of the Charter of Cooperation between Unpad and Creative Economy Agency. The Cooperation Charter was signed by the Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad and the Head of the Creative Economy, Triawan Munaf.
The event was opened by West Java Governor Dr. (H.C.) H. Ahmad Heryawan, L.C., M.Si. Ahmad Heryawan has revealed the importance of increasing entrepreneurship to support the national economy. The strategy of growing entrepreneurial spirit also needs the support of various parties, including universities.
Currently, any paradigm has shifted from natural resource-based economy into a knowledge-based economy and technology. In fact there is a saying that states that the source of prosperity is the mastery of science and technology.
“In response to the paradigm change, our challenge is how do we ensure the competitiveness and excellence of the nation by relying on the skills and keatifitas our human resources,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Rector said that foster the entrepreneurial spirit is also one of concern Unpad. Moreover, the most important is what is done by Unpad academic community can be beneficial to society.
Rector also expressed appreciation to UNESCO for the trust given to Unpad for mengelenggarakan this activity. “Thank you for entrusting Unpad to hold this event. I am sure this event will be beneficial not only for the university, but will also benefit the community, especially for the people of West Java,” said Rector. *
