Menristekdikti: Indonesia Must Be a Player, not Spectator of Sustainable Innovation Development

[Unpad.ac.id, 12/10/2016] Minister of Research Technology and Higher Education Prof. Mohammad Nasir, PhD., officially opened The 14th Globelics Conference at Gedung Merdeka Bandung, Wednesday (12/10). The opening of the event was marked by the beating of gongs by Prof. Nasir, President of Globelics Judith Sutz, and Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad.

“I hope Globelics Conference Program can be used to develop a very close interaction and is also open for researchers in Indonesia and other countries to strengthen collaborative research,” said Prof. Nasir.

From these activities, Prof. Nasir hoped a variety of perspectives from different countries would emerge. Indonesia should be a “player” instead of “spectator” in terms of the sustainable innovation development.

“From these various perspectives we are hoping to see innovations from various countries, on how we can elaborate, how we can get advantage to this cooperation,” said Prof. Nasir during the activities.

Meanwhile, Rector Unpad appreciated on the trust for Unpad to host this year’s conference. The theme for this year is “Innovation, Creativity and Development: Strategies for Inclusiveness and Sustainability”.

According to Rector, the theme is in line with the Basic Scientific Pattern (PIP), Universitas Padjadjaran, namely “Bina Mulia and Environmental Law in National Development”. It was partly evidenced by the SDGs Center at Unpad, which is also in line with the government’s commitment to achieving similar goal.

“We hope this conference can be beneficial and fun. Not only that, you may also be able to enjoy the beauty of the city of Bandung, “said Rector.

Globelics Conference is an annual event held by Globelics Scientific Board. This event is held in cooperation with a number of stakeholders including the Aalborg University in Denmark and the Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran. Globelics Conference is gathering of academics experts worldwide in building alternative thinking to the development of economic, social and political globally.

The conference is be held at the Savoy Homann Hotel and the Grand Hotel Preanger Bandung, 12 to 14 October 2016 attended by 147 academics/speakers from 40 countries. *
