[Unpad.ac.id, 19/10/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran in cooperation with PT Xsis Mitra Utama establishes a project whose main agenda is recruitment of Unpad graduates to meet the needs of the workforce in companies engaged in the development of information technology.

The cooperation is realized through the signing of the Charter of Cooperation between Unpad and PT Xsis Mitra Utama in the campus of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Jatinangor, Wednesday (19/10). The agreement was signed by the Rector, who on that occasion was represented the Vice Dean of FMIPA, Dr. Euis Julaeha, M.Sc., and the President Director of PT Xsis Mitra Utama also represented by the Director of Xsis Academy, M. Rahmat Saptadirdja.
Met after the signing, Rahmat said that the cooperation was initiated on the basis of the need for programmers in the company. Finding programmers suitable for the company’s needs is still difficult.
For that reason, the company must take an initiative by establishing collaborations with several universities to recruit graduates from computer department and informatics engineering. Unpad has been targeted as partner for the recruitment by PT Xsis Mitra Utama.
“When talking about the need, every month we need about 200 workers to be placed in a variety of our projects,” said Rahmat.
Through direct cooperation with several universities, he hoped that it would be able to obtain quality potentials for new employees. The company has also prepared educational programs as well as offered representative career levels.
“Being a programmer is a stepping stone; we will provide upgrading trainings to be a system analyst and business analyst, in which the analyst will be on par with IT consultants,” added Rahmat.
Specifically, the company was expecting graduates who master the programming logic, who have a strong passion for working in the IT field. In addition to the graduates of Informatics, Rahmat also opens up job opportunities for graduates of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, as well as others outside the exact sciences.
“The important thing is that they inquire a career in the IT world,” he continued.
Furthermore, Rahmat said that the company appreciates Unpad graduates who have worked at the company. According to him, Unpad graduates have good capacity, ranging from the technical abilities to attitudes.
In terms of quantity, the number Unpad graduates who joined the company has not been much. To that end, the cooperation is expected to open up wider opportunities for other graduates to work in PT Xsis Mitra Utama.
In addition to employment, said Rahmat, PT Xsis Mitra Utama also will work closely with the lecturers for the development of technology. They will provide inputs related to the development of the technology needed in the market. It aims to improve courses and curriculum in Unpad.
“We are also ready to hold a joint seminar which will include a public lecture related to the career opportunities in the IT industry, and what the students should prepare,” said Rahmat. *
