Bidikmisi Sent Ade Fitria Nola To College, Now Graduating with a 3.96 GPA

[Unpad.ac.id, 1/11/2016] Monetary limitations do not make Ade Fitria Nola discouraged to continue her studies to university. Accepted as a student of Study Program Communication Science Universitas Padjadjaran in 2012, Ade Fitria is a student who is a recipient of assistance program Bidikmisi. Currently, Ade has successfully completed her studies on time with the value of grade point average (GPA) of 3.96. On Wednesday (2/11), Ade will follow the procession Graduation at Graha Sanusi Unpad Hardjadinata.

Ade is one of the 2,828 graduates who attended the first wave Unpad Graduation Academic Year 2016/2017. This girl from Agam, West Sumatra had successfully graduated with a thesis entitled “Making of Welfare and Cultural Work by Correspondent PT. Tempo Inti Media (Tbk) Bureau of West Java “.

Ade is a child of Mukhtar and Asnimar, the youngest of nine siblings who is the only child of the family with the opportunity to continue their studies to university. Her eight siblings only finished their studies in junior high or high school.

“My older siblings also have school performance but they did not have no chance to continue as it is now (since there Bidikmisi program),” said Ade.

Both Ade’s parents also only completed their studies at the primary school level. On most days, Ade’s father worked as tilapia fish farmers who have several small ponds on Lake Maninjau, and his mother opened a grocery shop.

Ade said, that his father ponds stocked tilapia, which is typically not a necessity every month. Revenue received on each harvest ranged between Rp 3-4 million per 4 months. However, today there is no fish that can be harvested for the season tuba sulfur (upwilling) arrives and causes of fishes death in the ponds.

In the last few years anyway, Ade’s father who is now 83 years old has “retired” from his job. Practically, to support everyday expenses, Ade families depend on income from a grocery shop as well as the contribution of 8 children.

Even so, Ade is determined to continue her studies to university. This desire is also encouraged fullly by both parents and her eight siblings. Ade is an alumnus of SMAN Agam Scholar is then followed SBMPTN (then Written SNMPTN) and the department of Communication Science Padjadjaran University is one of the choices.

Through her school, Ade knew about Bidikmisi program, a tuition assistance program for those who are able academically, but have financial constraints. From this information, Ade directly was facilitated by her school to enroll on Bidikmisi program. At the time of the announcement, Ade was declared passed in Unpad and otherwise receive assistance Bidikmisi.

“From the beginning I’ve said to the parents if I go to college. I said they could leave it to me, and they do not have to pay tuition because I’ve received Bidikmisi. My parents is also supporting, “said Ade.

With the opportunity, Ade is not wasting her study time. In the third semester, she took a specialization Journalism. Journalism, is in accordance with the hobby that had been held, which writing.

“In journalism, I received a lot more knowledge and challenges, both on campus and in the field,” said the woman who was born on January 23, 1994.

In addition to her focus classes, Ade is also active in several student organizations. She was active in the group Jatinangor 21 Fikom Unpad, Unit Culture Lovers Minagkabau (UPBM) Unpad, and Journalism Students Association. She was also a member of the Executive Board of Student Communication Faculty Unpad.

She said she did not have any specific goals during her study. She only tried to finish all the tasks and assignment well. Her desire was to be graduated on on time and for her parents to see her graduated. Her dream was fulfilled, even Ade graduated with a proud achievement. This achievement is a special gift presented to both parents.

Ade is a portrait of the presence of the state to encourage the strengthening of education in Indonesia. Bidikmisi a real bridge built by the government to facilitate the young generation to gain the chance to study at college.

“It gives more open hope for the people can not afford school. Achievement does not have to be good, which is important there is a strong desire to continue their studies, “said Ade. *
