ISPST Became Information Exchange of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Development

[Unpad.ac.id, 24/11/2016] Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Padjadjaran held international seminar of “2nd International Seminar on Pharmaceutical Science and Technology” in Bale Sawala Rectorate Building Campus Jatinangor, 24 to 25 November 2016. This seminar will present a variety of information related to the results of research on the scope of knowledge and pharmaceutical technology.

Chairperson of the activities, Dr. Aliya Nur Hasanah, S.Si., Apt., M.Sc., said that the seminar would be an exchange of information related to the development of science and technology in the pharmaceutical field. The theme “Advances in Materials Design, Process and Technology for Improving Pharmaceutical Product Quality”, the seminar is expected to contribute to improving the quality of the results of pharmacological research.

The seminar was officially opened by the Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, Thursday (24/11). In his speech, Rector said that there are several challenges to improve the quality of science and pharmaceutical technology. According to him, increasing the quality of products in the pharmaceutical industry is closely related to the growing health care sector.

One of the efforts to improve the quality of Pharmaceutical means the use of information technology aspects. However, use of information technology has two sides of a coin. On the one hand can increase the quality of service, on the other hand affects the increase in cost of services.

“It is a challenge, how we can improve the quality but still maintain the stability of health care costs,” said Rector.

Another challenge in improving the science and technology sector pharmacy is the dominance of the pharmaceutical profession. Rector explained, a cooperative effort between sectors is very important. Thus, the challenge of quality improvement is not just the responsibility of pharmacists, but also all the stakeholders in the health care field.

Furthermore, Rector said, it is important in improving the quality of health care to keep people healthy. “Health care is not just treating the disease, but how we are able to discover and develop public health services with the goal maintained their health,” said Rector.
A total of 223 participants attended this international seminar. Participants are not only from the field of pharmacy, but also followed by various multidisciplinary and professions, ranging from academics, researchers, students, to the pharmacy practitioners.

This seminar featured several keynote speakers: Prof. Roland Bodmeier (Freie Universitat Berlin), Prof Yasushi Arano (Chiba University), Prof Habibah A. Wahab (School of Universiti Sains Malaysia), Assoc. Prof. Dr Zeeshan Ahmad (Leicester School of Pharmacy,De Montfort University Leicester), Prof. Dr. Zhari Ismail (Universiti Sains Malaysia), Prof. Kunikazu Moribe (Chiba University), Prof Abdul Rohman (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Prof Bambang Kuswandi (Universitas Jember), Dr. M. Rahman Roestan Pharm., MBA (PT Biofarma,), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairunisak Abdul Razak, Assoc. Prof. Kyung Teak. Oh, PhD, and Taofik Rusdiana,Ph.D., Apt.

In addition to international seminars, this event also featured with parallel presentations and posters title.
